Yipeeeeee!   I see big changes coming for GLB.  High falutin penthouse parties, champagne sections at Petco, Dijon mustard for our dogs, hard hitting expose's on who Peavy is pounding beers with in LA,, etc.

Smells Like Pryor Forever Edition

May was supposed to be "the month" when all things good happen to the Pads. Add a dash of shoulder discomfort to the pile.

Obama, Hillary, McCain? I'm voting for pitchers and catchers Feb 19

A little over a month away begins my "never touched the base" rehabilitation therapy.  Holy crap, Towers has (again) cobbled together an amazing lineup for the cost of a yummy Randy Jones BBQ sandwich.  Jim Edmonds, Mark Prior, Greg Maddux, Iguchi, Jake, A-Gon, Peavy, Young...I'm just tingly all over and giggling like a little school girl.  Sure some of these guys are a little suspect - old and infirmed. Towers has kept the budget to $65 million - so there's enough left to sign MB when he explodes and blows out of Texas in March.

Padres 08 Payroll - Please Help

With all the discussions about how much the Pads can/will spend for 08, I can't find any numbers for where we are now.  Here is what I have, but I know I am missing a few things.
Update [2007-12-19 23:13:29 by planetjeffy]:Thanks for all the help, as I keep updating the roster. Many of these links are not up to date and are missing "realistic" projections. I am trying to get to the bottom of the "we only have 2M left to spend" talk, etc.

Starting lineup:
C: Bard $3M (Sign to avoid arbitration - guess)
1B: A-Gon $.75M
2B: Iguchi $3.85M
3B: Kouz $0.4M
SS: Greene $5M (Sign to avoid arbitration - guess)
RF: Giles $9M
CF: Edmonds $6M
LF: ?

Bench:
Hairston $0.4M
P-Mac/Rodriguez/Stansberry/ $0.4M
C-Barrett $3.5M

Rotation:
Peavy $6M
Young $2.5M
Maddux $10M
Wolf $4.75M
SP ?

Pen:
Hoffy $7.5M
Bell $0.4M
Cla $0.4M
Thatcher $0.4M
Hampson $0.4M
Cameron/other $0.4M

This comes to around 64M - 65M plus a left fielder and #5 starter.

Welcome to the Fuku Dome.

Dear Mr Dome,
It's like 11:25 am Tuesday in Japan and you said you would make your decision by Tuesday morning, unless you meant our Tuesday and our "Tuesday" could be Central time, if you are talking about Chicago or Pac time, if you are considering SD or SF and it is about time to make your damn decision.

If you are going to kick us in the balls, do it now please, so we can move on to the idea of Steve Finley in CF and start drinking heavily.

Chan Ho's 2nd Coming - 15 million dollar reliever?

When the Padres traded away all their great mid-relief pitching, were they planning this or did they just get lucky?  I figured he would be written off with Woody.  I think they are both good for about 2 or 3 innings, max.  Now if we just had a couple of more starters...Maybe they should put Hensley in the rotation and have these two fading, no faded starters come in out of the bullpen.
Great article about Chan Ho and the Classic:
