"I personally have never been opposed to trading within the division," Towers said. "You can't have a fear of it or it will come back to bite you. If you have confidence in the input you're getting from your people and the player you're getting in return, you're fine."

Open Thread: 7/24, Padres vs.Pirates
Clay Hensley is back in the rotation [girls screaming and fainting], this time he swears he's healthy. Not like all the other times he swore he was healthy and wasn't. This time it's different. You know what else is different? It's not 2006. One thing for sure is he's not going back to Portland, he's not ready to be that guy anymore.
Good luck, you're gonna need it.
Remember when we had X. Nady and Bochy refused to play him? Those were the days.
Go Padres!!

XX Sports Radio: Sandy Alderson Report (MP3)
Sandy is back from vacation. 0-5 While Sandy was out of town. Trading Wolf is proof they are rethinking. They are NOT rebuilding, but yes they are rebuilding. They are salvaging positives from a negative season. Mental errors frustrate FO more than fans (not likely). Not chaotic in the clubhouse, but uncertainty and chaos in clubhouse may be a cause of mental errors. Dykstra deadline is 8/15, not much progress is being made, but he'll probably sign. FO predicted 90 wins, on pace to win 62. 90 wins was not a calculation it was a composite of calculations. Next year the FO should make predictions. Focusing on the farm system in the off season instead of free agents.

A small beachfront cottage in Del Mar owned by John and Rebecca Moores closed escrow this month for $16 million.
The three-bedroom, 3.5-bath home was listed for only five days by Barry Estates when a full-price offer came in.

The Padres are like a busty redhead
You know going into this season the Padres really seemed like they were going to be good. Hearing descriptions about how the Padres had improved at several positions, stand out players from last year were only going to improve and young players were going to thrive and grow into bonafied major leaguers.
It's kinda like somebody asking if you'd like to see a busty redhead with alabaster skin wearing an unbuttoned Padres jersey draped across her bosom with a bat slung across her shoulders. That sounds pretty nice don't it?
But much like the Padres, once you see the product that you've been hearing about the expectations don't really meet the reality of what you're seeing with your own eyes.
Then you're left audibly sighing or gasping with displeasure.

FanShot Tutorial
There are 6 different types of FanShots:
- Links - Link to a page and your own description of the page you are linking
- Quotes - Sharing a Quote and the link to the page
- Images - Sharing an Image and the link where you found the image
- Videos -Sharing a Video and the link/description
- Lists - Sharing a list you created or found (max 5 things) and the link/description of where you found it
- Chats - Sharing a portion of an online chat and a link/description
The most popular seem to be the Links, Quotes, Images and Videos. The most common mistake is putting a Quote in a Link FanShot.
There are two ways to create FanShots. The first is the easiest and one that we highly recommend.
1. Drag this button to your Bookmarks Bar to quickly post FanShots to SB Nation:
You can also go to the Fanshot page drag the button from the top of the page.
Links - When you find an interesting article. Just click the "Share on SB Nation" button from your browser bookmark bar and it’ll automatically make a Link Fanshot and give you a place to add your own description.
Quotes - If you want to make a Quote FanShot, highlight a portion of the article and then click the "Share on SB Nation" button from your browser bookmark bar. It will automatically populate the fields of your FanShot.
Images - Right click and "view image" so that the the image is on it's own page. Then click your button. Some image sites like Flickr you don't need to get the picture on it's own page, you just click the button.
Video - On YouTube just click the button and it'll take care of the rest. Otherwise you'll have to copy and paste the embed code.
When in doubt hit the button.
2. The second way to post a fan shot is to click on New FanShot below the list of FanShots on the right hand side of the home page. Then you have to choose your type in the menu bar and create your own HTML or use the toolbar buttons to add images, descriptions and links.
Hope that's clear, let us know if you have any questions.
