Open Thread, 3/18: Padres vs. White Sox

The Padres face the White Sox today. Wil Ledezma gets the start against John Danks.

It's 70 degrees at Tucson Electric Park...we should all be there catching some rays and enjoying some ice cold adult beverages.

Question: Will we get to see Scott Linebrink today in his spiffy new White Sox uniform and wads of cash falling out of his pockets? Stay tuned...

Andy Masur and The Colonel have the call on XX Sports Radio...Uncle Teddy is "on assignment" today. On assignment?? What the hell does that mean?

You beat me to it
For those of us trophy husbands out there, the game is on XM 178.

T. Clark!!!
Thanks, D-Backs.

Good AB by Khalil
even going down swinging. He burned a bunch of pitches there. Would have liked to see him do something more productive, but good AB regardless.

Runners on 2nd and 3rd....
...only one out...Khalil strikes out. Ugh.

DAMMIT KHALIL!!! SHAKE YOURSELF!!!!

Love the contrast
Between your post and Phantom's.

GET A ROOM, PHANTOM!!!!!

Barrett
We have a BAD-ASS 1-2 combo at catcher.

by Drama on Mar 18, 2008 1:17 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Lets hope so
I expect Barrett to really bounce-back this season.

by Phantom on Mar 18, 2008 1:19 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Expect
Expect is the perfect word. I don't believe for one second that he just forgot how to hit.

Fick
Think we can talk Fick into driving Estes to Portland?

by Drama on Mar 18, 2008 1:20 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Why drive
When you can have P-Keg get out and push?

by Phantom on Mar 18, 2008 1:24 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

P-Keg is out of options.
He ain't going to Portland...and I hope he ain't going to San Diego.

by Drama on Mar 18, 2008 1:26 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

He can accept
an assignment in San Diego though, right? I doubt there's a huge demand out there for an extra DH guy.

by Phantom on Mar 18, 2008 1:27 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

D'oh
That should say Portland. Sorry to scare you, Drama.

by Phantom on Mar 18, 2008 1:28 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

I think so.
You really don't think some other club would grab him thinking he's the next Jack Cust?

by Drama on Mar 18, 2008 1:29 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

I don't think
he's got either the OBP or the power that Cust did. Dude could play LF in a place like Cincy or Philly, but not much else.

Whoa
Who taught Wil Ledezma about the strike zone?

Weird.

by Phantom on Mar 18, 2008 1:27 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Ledezma
He may get one of those final spots in the bully.

Danks
This is the guy we were rumored to be trading Khalil for last season, right?

by Drama on Mar 18, 2008 1:40 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

I can't recall
I typically tried to ignore the rumors. Selective perception and all.

Uncle Teddy....
is on his way to Gainsville to call the SDSU / FL NIT game.  It's a pleasure to hear to the Colonel ramble on a nice almost spring day.

Wil
showing his control issues. The kid seems to have a pretty good arm. He just needs to learn how to pitch a little more effectively.

Another error for Khalil
Man, I'm really starting to get concerned. It's Khalil freakin Greene. What's going on?

Jerry
can't figure out Tad's last name. He keeps calling him "Taguchi" instead of "Iguchi".

Valley View Casino Buffett
Mark Grant: "22-game winner". Fantastic.

by Drama on Mar 18, 2008 2:23 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

He does it
just to screw with Drama.

by Phantom on Mar 18, 2008 2:24 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

It's incredible.
The Padres should hire me. I could walk into the locker room before each game and tell P-Keg what a hunk of crap he is...sit back and watch him hit bomb after bomb. Unreal.

by Drama on Mar 18, 2008 2:26 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

It seemed
to work last year with Khalil. Wasn't it the EXACT day that you posted your diary that he hit a grand slam?

by Phantom on Mar 18, 2008 2:28 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yes
Sadly my powers now only work on Paul McAnulty.

by Drama on Mar 18, 2008 2:41 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Still, better than
having your powers work on Robert Fick.
Charlie, here comes the deuce. And when you speak of me, speak well.

If only McAnulty could play some D..
Charlie, here comes the deuce. And when you speak of me, speak well.

Ugh
Another K. Up 3-0 and Ks. Yikes.

Padres
Scared to death of Paul Konerko. Three walks.

WE WILL NOT LET PAUL KONERKO BEAT US!!! SCREW YOU WHITE SOX!!!!

P-Keg
If we could let him hit and DaVannon play the outfield for him....we'd have ourselves a real player.

by Drama on Mar 18, 2008 2:44 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

E-Gon!!!
Flashing that famous Gonzalez speed.
