Gaslamp Ball is headed to Peoria for Spring Training

Kev and I are headed out to Peoria, Arizona this Saturday. This will be my first Spring Training trip ever. If I may quote Sandy Alderson "There is only one first". That is unless I get laid out there, then it will be two firsts.

I don't think Kev's been to Peoria yet, but he went to Yuma back in the day. I'm excited. We'll be attending the Padres / A's game and rooting for the Pads and Brooks Conrad.

I keep fantasizing about one thing though. I'm hoping some HUGE Padres story will break in Peoria and all the major news sources that follow the Padres are in China. There we'll be... Gaslamp Ball, with the story all to ourselves. I just hope that Kev and I are paying attention at the time and not shoving hot dogs into our faces and putting sun tan lotion on each other.

I told Dex about my fantasy and he had this to say: "it's like if WWIII broke out and all of our military forces were incapacitated except for the girl scouts".

Exactly... I can't wait.

I would have assumed that Dex's response to your fantasy would have commented more on you and Kev putting suntan lotion on each other.

Guess what I just got.

A M'ing CORNED BEEF. That's right, Cs, delicious F'ing corned beef. You wish you had that S, don't you? Also, I have a F'ing cabbage to go with it. Yeah, I've had that B sitting in my fridge, waiting for the moment those juicy M go on sale. I got me five of those hos in the freezer now, and one's waiting for me to cook it right now. I can't wait to rip into that S. Enjoy your S meals at Peoria; today I'm eating some M'ing Corned Beef and Cabbage, M's, and watching a super-delayed Gameday presentation. Minor league spring training ...

Uh, this doesn't quite fit the tone of the comments so far ... but ... an option for those in Peoria starting March 14th is to go to the minor-league games which are played on the back practice fields ...

After reading through this diary I'm a little nervous to mention that I will be in Scottsdale this weekend for a workshop and definitely plan to catch a game there and at Maryvale.

I just got back from Peoria, I was there for the Sunday-Tuesday games. It was a blast. Good luck on that big story, if you need a comment from Kevin Towers you can find him sitting in the first row directly behind home plate. We sat behind him on Sunday, he's one sexy old man. Oh, and don't forget the sunscreen.

You guys are in for it!

As a Padres fan, being stuck out here in the desert with the d-bags sucks but spring training is the best time of year. I pretty much take the whole month of March off, there's just too much to do. Nice weather, cheap tickets, good baseball, and ASU coeds EVERYWHERE!!!
