Tony Gwynn Statue Unveiled

No matter what happens to San Diego, Tony the Gwynn will live on forever.  If we humans end up dying off and an advanced extraterrestrial race finds Earth they'll have Tony Gwynn as reference to man-kind.  The statue of Tony made from bronze was unveiled before tonight's game.

After the cover came off, Gwynn gave it some serious looks.  This was no once-over.  He really took it in.  Then came to the conclusion "I look pretty sexy".

The ceremony was real nice and Tony posed next to his likeness.  Afterwards, he walked through the crowd greeting everyone as if he were running for office.  He even gave me a high-five...dude has real gnarly hands, crazy rough.

Too Grey?
I personally like it... It's Gwynn to a T.
My only complaint is that it isn't bronzy enough.  It's a bit grey.  I'm thinking it will look better years from now after it's seen a bit of weather.

Beautiful ... thanks!
Thanks for the pics ... wish I could have been there myself ... the statue is FANTASTIC!

Request: Can you take & post a picture that shows the bricks around it?  I bought one of those, can't wait to get back down there to see it!

Which one is yours?
We will take a pic of it next game.

Thanks for the offer ...
I'd imagine it'd take quite a search to find a single brick ... so for now, I'm more interested in a picture of the whole brick area ... besides, I know what the brick looks like since they sent me a replica :-)

But if you want to look for it, all 3 lines are full of letters ... the 3rd line says "HOWARD&AL&CINDY" ... 15 characters is what they allowed on that 3rd line and I used 'em all :-)

Thanks!

Actually
there aren't that many bricks, shouldn't be too hard.

Beautiful, just beautiful
I was crying like a chick the whole time. I'll have to see where my brick went the next time I'm out at the park. Too many people to get a good look.
