Smells Like Padres in Here - Friday Edition

Smells Like Padres in Here - Friday Edition

Finally.  REAL baseball again.  (Thought I have managed to get a lot done in the past few days...)  Game starts at the ridiculous time of 6:40pm PST.

The Pads say they're going to have fun during the stretch.

The farm system is looking good.

Five things to think about as we enter the second half.

The players are loving Pepe Negro.

Quick preview of the AZ series.

Boomer does not heart Bob Watson.

And because I just can’t get enough Rickey, here’s a collection of Rickey’s finest moments. Me love me some Rickey.

On Rickey Henderson
I can't get enough of Rickey and his Rickeyisms.

Briles in a nutshell (from the Bud Black article)
Ask Giles about the change and he'll tell you he's not comfortable. He's not uncomfortable, either. When asked which way he felt, Giles jokingly replied "tan."

"I try not to get overly excited... But I am pleased with it..."

Rickey
My favorite Rickey story is the one where he asked John Olreud about his helmet...and then said, "I know a dude who had the same thing happen"...Olreud said, that was me.

I heart Rickey
I think it is funny when people get all riled up about Rickey Henderson or Operation Shutdown or Sheffield or even Boomer.  These are my favorite players!  I dont understand why being boring and indistinguishable is admirable in baseball.  I even like Terrell Owens!  Deion Sanders was awesome!  I think character should be promoted, not discouraged.

Think back to the old times, nearly all of the superstars had some character "flaw" which makes it much more interesting, to me at least.

Ego, booze, drugs, women, gluttony, you just can't have enough of this in the world of baseball.
