Friday Morning

That was an intense series anyway you look at it. I'm proud of our boys for staying composed and making that dramatic comeback in the 9th. Who would think that we'd keep a rally alive with McAnulty's speed and Branyan's ability to take pitches.

When Adrian Gonzalez hit that ball into the gap last night with the bases loaded, I felt like some one electrocuted me. I spazzed out as I jumped off my couch with excitement.

Thankfully the Rally Unicorn can return to his stable for awhile. After receiving the death threats from Jonny Dub last night, I think it's best that he only make appearances on the rare occasion when he is truly needed. I questioned whether I should release him from his stable three games in a row, but he proved the doubters wrong. Rest mighty steed, your work here is done.

Lookout Landing is having a get together tonight and Sunday in the Gaslamp. If you want to toss back a few with our hated rivals and tell them about our plans to kidnap Ichiro, then drop by tonight.

Speaking of that Gonzo blast...

I was in right center field with a group and when that ball dropped, it dropped out of my sight range so I couldn't tell if it hit the wall or went out. We were cheering anyway but for a few seconds I was unsure. Then the fireworks went off, indicating home run - so everybody went apeshit at the thought of a grand slam win. Then it turns out it was a ground ruled double.

But was it just me, or did that fireworks guy jump the gun a little? I thought fireworks were for homeruns only?

That series WAS amazing!

I think it woke up a lot of the national media to the fact that this sleepy little beach town has one hell of a baseball team. I stopped by espn.com to check and see if their Friday power rankings were up (not yet) and there were no less than 3 stories on Padres players!

I agree the rally unicorn should only come out in our hour of darkest need.

as for CY, he is for sure going to be at Macy's, but i'm not sure which dept. i heard on the radio this morning that he's gonna be in the men's dept, but i was kind of half asleep and all i really heard was the word men.

I'm still drunk

drunk on sweet beverage called Sweep. That's a mighty sweet broom, ABY. I hope you get to buy and distribute more to your barkeep.

After getting back from dinner with Mrs. Pants (had to make up for working 45 days in a row (and counting) on the day I could leave work early), I tuned in to Channel 9 to find the game at 5-4 and Vin using the word "zany" to describe the inning. I rewound the ol' DVR and lo, "zany" was certainly the best word to describe it. Yes, there were many Dodger mistakes, but important thing is that the Padres capitalized on those mistakes. And as I said earlier on Winfield's Ghost Diary page, what makes it amazing is that the comeback was accomplished with guys like Sledge, Branyan, McAnulty, and Blummer (2005 WS notwithstanding).
