Penance for a loss

As Rob has kindly pointed out, there are no Padres position players cracking the top positions for the All-Star vote. Now, you know and I know that the All-Star vote is wack and it's a popularity contest, but come on. We should be able to get behind our guys.

We each get 25 votes (per email), so as penance for not providing enough positive thoughts to get Boomer a win against the Pirates, we all need to start voting for our Padres and especially El Natural. How Adrian Gonzalez isn't neck and neck Derek Lee and Prince Fielder is well beyond me.

Here's a ballot. It takes about a minute to do a single vote if you skip all the hemming and hawing and just vote for our guy. Do 5 of them right now. 5 tomorrow. Keep doing that till you go through all the votes possible. Then get into your other email addresses and do the same thing. Or just go through and do them all right now. Get your friends to vote.

It's disgusting to see Carlos Delgado in front of A-Go. Baseball fans in general should be sickened to see Nomar Garciaparra in the top 5.

Adrian Gonzalez is a superstar and deserves to make it to the All-Star game this year. Let's make this happen.

I already voted
with all 4 of my emails 25 times each. I really hope A-go goes to the All star game. He deserves it.

You see that?
That's dedication. Gaslamp Ball Experience It Point for Stephy08.

Gaslamp Ball Experience It Point for jbox!

by jbox on May 29, 2007 7:11 PM PDT   0 recs

Three times now!
Dude I just started.  I voted at the game.  How many votes did you cast at the games?

by jbox on May 29, 2007 7:13 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Have they always voted like this?
Not online but is this the way they always chose all stars?  Cuz it sucks.

by jbox on May 29, 2007 7:16 PM PDT   0 recs

WTF
Who the EFF is voting for BARRY?  #$%&

I've voted 25 times for all 4 of my email addresses.  Nothing on that page is validating email address (as far as I can see) so I'm sure you could just write whatever with an @ in the middle and it'll accept.

by Gone Savage on May 29, 2007 7:22 PM PDT   0 recs

Don't worry A-Go!
jbox is voting!  I'm not going to let you down!

by jbox on May 29, 2007 7:24 PM PDT   0 recs

Darn
I just realized that I left Kooz off the list for about 15 votes.  Okay I gotta concentrate, don't get sloppy!

C'mon jbox

Sorry this is going to be dumb
Im not very tech savvy...I type that in but put the name of my picture instead?

by padresgirlforlife44 on May 29, 2007 8:11 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Well you have to host the picture somewhere
for the other pictures they sent it to me and I uploaded them to gaslamp.  You can do that or use your own hosting site like http://photobucket.com/.  Once you upload it to photobucket it will give you a link.

Does that make sense?

by jbox on May 29, 2007 8:14 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Ya it does
I think I will just make a photobucket then..thank you very much

by padresgirlforlife44 on May 29, 2007 8:16 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

But
If I want to send it to you, I do through email and you make it like you did for Stephy08. Like in the grey box and all. Sorry Im new to this people.

by padresgirlforlife44 on May 29, 2007 8:27 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

it's okay
I just put it in a gray box, because I was quoting her email.  You wouldn't need to do that since you wouldn't quote yourself.

But just in case you were wondering:

<div class = "blockquote">blah blah blah</div>

If you were going to write something and put up some pictures I'd recommend posting a diary.  It's under the menu in the upper right hand corner of your screen.

or you can send it.

by jbox on May 29, 2007 8:33 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Cool
That was the last quesiton I promise. I get it now and THANK YOU VERY MUCH.  ;)

15 Minutes
Did 50.  More tomorrow.  I was not, in good conscience, able to vote for Sledge, though.  So Cheo got 50 write ins.

And we're gonna need to see those wedding photos.

by Winfield's Ghost on May 29, 2007 8:04 PM PDT   0 recs

Winfields Ghost
I knew I liked you for a reason.

I just did 75 votes...with Cheo getting every write in vote. Sweet.

On sunday...your friend was wearing a Hensley jersey right? Hes so cute. Im a teenage girl too, 17 and class of 08 as well! 'Cept my boy is Jake..
Did you guys go to the Celebrity Pour last year?

by padresgirlforlife44 on May 29, 2007 8:37 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

You have very good taste in players.
Jake really is the hottest baseball player.  Seriously.

by Demoira on May 29, 2007 8:42 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

UH HUH
I have met him a few times, he has the most GORGEOUS blue eyes I have ever seen, Im not kidding. I have a picture with me and him, the eyes are just striking.

by padresgirlforlife44 on May 29, 2007 10:35 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Omg I know
When I went to the game a couple of weeks ago he was like right in front of me. Although I didn't talk to him, I took some great pictures. He's so cute!!!

by Stephy08 on May 30, 2007 12:01 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Ha
Where do you go for him to be right in front of you?

by padresgirlforlife44 on May 30, 2007 4:36 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

I went
to the game and he was showing a family to their seats. He was standing by the dugout talking to them and then he went to the side where a bunch of people tried to get his autograph. I just got some pictures.

by Stephy08 on May 30, 2007 8:49 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

really??
Yeah she was wearing the Clay Hensley shirt! He is pretty cute. =]

That's so cool. Stephanie and I are also 17 =]

No =[ We didn't go to the Celebrity Pou last year. We had this plan that we weren't going to go to school that day and our parents were ok w/ it but a day before the event neither of our parents wanted to take us...

By the way... Jake is really, REALLY cute. Who doesn't love Jake?

Laura

by padparazzi on May 29, 2007 8:42 PM PDT   0 recs

sorry, haven't been around in a while...
are we still trying to put together the ultimate AL flop team?  i'm sitting on 90 ballot cards and a 1/2 dozen email addresses and was curious if we ever made any progress on that front.  that is, did we ever decide on which crappy AL players are so overrated to be viable all-stars?

We all talked about it and liked it
but we never actually did any thing about it.  Which is surprising.  ;)

by jbox on May 29, 2007 8:45 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

All-Suck Team
Yeah, I thought we were going to get that going. I will have to plan it out further ahead next time. Maybe I will just make the list and turn it into a handy PDF for people to print out next year.

by osbug on May 30, 2007 6:07 AM PDT to parent up   0 recs

yeah
he is... Jake is on my top 5 hottest baseball players list. My list is up to 63 baseball players... I have way too much free time.
Laura

by padparazzi on May 29, 2007 8:49 PM PDT   0 recs

You know
I was going to make a comment about how cute you young whippersnappers are talking about the hot players and saying your hands and knees were shaking when you took your pics on Sunday. But then I remember that last year MY knees were shaking and *I* nearly fainted and then was grinning like a fool for about two weeks after photo day myself courtesy of Mike Piazza. And I was 41 :-> Once a giggly teenager, always a giggly teenager I guess!

Diddo
The Celebrity Pour was one of the best days of my life. I talked to Jake and he signed my Jersey. It wasnt just like a signature, he wrote a message and everything. He got me a special drink, one for me and one for him, called the Alabama Slamma. Then I got interviewed by Outta Left Field (Troy Johnson). It was really quiet and intimate in there. There were only about 100 people. You should go next time, Clay was there. It was absolutely worth the $20. Like I actually had a conversation with Jake. Sometimes I think Im obsessed...but I cant help it.<3

by padresgirlforlife44 on May 29, 2007 10:40 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

lol
Well its this Strawberry Smoothie Drink thats all. Me being 17, of course it was a virgin. Anyways, Troy said I wanted one and I had no idea what it was and Jake was like.."whats that", then the bartender lady told him and he said to me "wait right here ill be right back" then he went across the resteraunt for 5 minutes and brought back one for me and one for him. then i took a picture with him and told him he is my favorite and then he said "whats your  name sweetie" then he signed my jersey and it was wonderful.

by padresgirlforlife44 on May 30, 2007 11:53 AM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Aww...
i wish i could had gone to the Celebrity Pour!!  i was so mad at my parents for not letting me go... but what can i do about it now?? is there going to be one this year?? because if there is i'll make sure i attend! don't worry you're not the only one who's obsessed w/ baseball players or jake peavy.

stephy08 & i saw you on sunday. i remember seeing the jake peavy jersey w/ his autograph and the message. =]

thats cool
You guys saw me..I was with my dad.  I  might introduce myself next time or something.

I am praying there is another this year..it was kind of the down low cuz most of my friends didnt know about it. I was lucky enough to see it on a commercial. It was one of the best days of my life but it was all kind of a blur. I was in my own little world. To this day, my dad tells me stuff that happens and I dont remember because I was amazed that I talked to Jake and Clay and Liney and Troy and everyone.

by padresgirlforlife44 on May 30, 2007 4:24 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

we should meet each other
its nice to see another girl our age that loves the game of baseball as much as we do.

i can imagine it being a blur. it would be a blur for me aswell if i would had been there.

i believe stephanie told me that she was sitting like on the 3rd row in the field lever... not sure... i wasn't there so i can't really tell you. i just saw the great pictures she took of jake.

Peavy
I have a Red Sox magazine signed by Peavy. When I went to the Padres games in Boston, Peavy was one of the few players that actually came over and signed for the Padres fans (which there was a pretty good amount of). Even so, it was much easier for my friend to get his signature, being a female and all.

by osbug on May 30, 2007 6:09 AM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Votes
I have used all my main email addresses, and generally create a new one every day to use. I have been doing this for a few weeks now. I am going to have to start deleting old email addresses soon, so I hope they don't verify them. I have also been voting for an all-suck AL team, even though I am probably the only one. It has been mostly Royals.

by osbug on May 30, 2007 6:11 AM PDT   0 recs

wow, all this support is great.
How many gaslamp ballers are there? 1000? Each putting through 100 votes? 100,000 votes total? And last year the NL 1st baseman was Albert Pooholes receiving 3.4 million votes?

I'm not sure we quite have the voting muscle to stuff the ballot box like we need to...

by pjbno4 on May 30, 2007 6:50 AM PDT   0 recs

About 600 from what I can tell
People in the lurker thread yesterday who said they had just signed up were in the 590s.
Christina

by Christina on May 30, 2007 9:00 AM PDT to parent up   0 recs

100 votes?
Why setting the bar so low? With the time left it should be easy to do way more than 100 votes. I think I am sitting about 500 votes so far.

by osbug on May 30, 2007 7:15 AM PDT   0 recs

you better have
20 Email Addresses!

by sdsuaztec4 on May 30, 2007 8:23 AM PDT to parent up   0 recs

I make a new one everyday. I think I can create up to 100, so why not use them?

i haven't voted YET...
cause my internet sucks at home and i can't do it right now here at work, but i definitely will vote and use all 10 of my email addresses to vote :)

this is a sweet plan.

A new hairdo every week and he is a shoe in.  If I had any photoshopping skills I would put some recommendations together myself...

by Rob on May 30, 2007 1:27 PM PDT   0 recs

Dex
You should've called some MLB people up and found out Adrian's actual count and see if one blog can actually affect his standing.  It would be even better if one blog could send Khalil to the All Star Game!  Then we could sell high on him!  Hehe...

by Rob on May 30, 2007 3:20 PM PDT   0 recs

Did anyone hear Mike?
Cameron on xx this morning?  Says veeery disappointed that a-go not in the top five for the all-star game...  says he deserves to be there and fans should stop complaining about run production and focus on voting (paraphrasing).  [ps.  love the leggo comment!]

by ABY on May 31, 2007 8:55 AM PDT   0 recs

Maybe
Cameron should stop worrying about A-Go and start worrying about run production.

What was the leggo comment?

by jbox on May 31, 2007 9:01 AM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Mike
was whining a bit about Petco but then said he wasn't going to complain, he says he plays in a graveyard...

Leggo:  people in the thread of yesterdays game were waffling on over a-gon or a-go, a-go seemed to win out then, a glb-er said leggo my a-go.  Tickled me that's all!
Will the real culprit stand up!

by ABY on May 31, 2007 9:52 AM PDT to parent up   0 recs

WOW....
Did I just read that right? Did jbox just call Cam on to the carpet?
