Maintaining blogger street cred: We hate Colin Cowherd too

Woah. There's like a whole angry mob of bloggers lighting torches and gathering material for Molotov cocktails...

OK. Before anybody starts pointing in our direction yelling, "Hey look! They're not saying anything! They must be with him!" We just want to make it clear that for the record, Gaslamp Ball hates Colin Cowherd too. That's just right at this moment, and it's nothing real personal or anything, but we don't want the angry mob of bloggers that's gathered to think that we're not cool. Cause hey. We're cool. No, we don't mind if you guys smoke. That's cool too.

Just don't hurt us, angry mob of bloggers.

Hey, you guys don't like him? Neither do we, yo. You want us to carry a pitchfork and a torch? I mean, sure. Just cause we're standing towards the back of this angry mob of bloggers doesn't mean we're not as angry. Look. Grrrr. That's anger.

Hey what do you mean we don't look like we mean it? Hey we mean it, man. You guys don't like Cowherd. We don't like Cowherd. We toe the line, dude. Ain't nobody stepping out of line here.

Though I don't listen to him much. Did he speak ill of the Padres or GLB?

Cowherd

Apparently, he instigated a denial of service attack on The Big Lead, which is a pretty good general sports blog. There's some talk that Cowherd steals material from blogs to use on the show without giving credit to the blogger and on his show yesterday, he talked about how it would be "fun" to "blow up" a "random" website. Then he told his listeners to all visit The Big Lead at the same time to basically take the site down.

I'd say that it was "random" except that on the radio show, he let it slip that he'd find an "annoying" site before kinda covering and claiming that he'd never heard of the site before.

But several months back when the stealing from blogs issue arose with his show, ESPN did force him to make an on-air apology the next day. It was insincere and weak, but it was an admission that he'd done it.

Can't stand the guy

Thought he was a pretty lame radio guy before all this - unoriginal and completely derivative. Now I just think he's an ass.

The guys at Big Lead do a very nice job of covering sports and the sports media. For a sports blog, they come off about as professional as any blog out there. For Cowherd to encourage his listeners to swarm the site in order to crash it for almost two days now - when they'd done nothing to draw his ire, he selected them at random just to see if they could crash a blog - was juvenile and unprofessional.

he's just an idiot

And really, just not great to listen to. Doesn't make a lot of sense and is not very interesting.
But I listen to WFAN out here, so most of the ESPN guys aren't that great in comparison.

This whole "war" he has going on with the blogs is ridiculous. Dude -- if you got an idea from a blog, just give props, there's no shame in it. Seems to me like he's just trying to stir things up to get listeners.
