Hoffy and W. chillin at NYSE

so i read in the U.T. that trevor would be ringing the closing bell at the NYSE, which i thought was pretty cool. as the day went on i forgot about this, until i was watching conan and i heard him make a comment about George W. Bush visiting the NYSE today. Pretty random that Hoffman and Bush were there in the same day, i wonder if he got to meet Bush (there is video on the website of Bush just hanging out on the floor of NYSE talking to people).  there is also a pretty cool picture of hoffman ringing the bell with a padres logo above his head. way to represent the padres in NY baby.

He is the first active president to visit the NYSE floor, but who gets to ring the bell that day, Trevor. I guess we know who is more important!

I was thinking the same thing
I read the two articles and neither mentioned the other.  I wondered if they'd meet up.

White House
I have it on good authority that Hoffy is having dinner at the White House this weekend (or early next week, not sure which) with Bush, David Wright and our boy David "Fat" Wells.

Apparently Bush has a few ballplayers over for dinner every off-season to "talk shop," being he is a former Major League owner and all.

i actually remember
that he does this.  In fact, if i remember correctly  Mark Loretta got to meet with Bush at the White House either last year or the year before.  I think it was while he was still a padre.
threepeat?(never thought id be able to say that about the padres!)

Trevor Hoffman for President in 2012
Maybe Bush will tell him the secrets of how to dominate the world over some Texas-style potatoes.

And the only reason for HOFFY FOR PREZ IN 2012 and not 2008 is because he'll probably up the save record another 70-90 (100?) saves including some in 2009 once Boomer and Mad Dog show him where they hide the fountain of youth (it's a little farther down the stream along changeup valley).  Although, he might want to wait 'til he's a first round hall of famer to run for the big office, so maybe 2016?

Relax, all right? Don't try to strike everybody out. Strikeouts are boring! Besides that, they're fascist. Throw some ground balls - it's more democratic.

(Stupid) ticket question
But on March 3, will I be able to buy tickets to Opening Day, or is the only way to do that is be a season ticket holder or enter for this?

Yep...
My understanding is you gotta be a season ticket holder, or else you need to enter the lottery for a chance to buy opening day tix. Ditto for the Red Sox tix (got mine already!)

Surprised
Kind of surprised I got censored here.  Sucks because I did not curse and I always rock my gaslampball.com shirt.

I guess you can't slam the Presidency here.

You got censored?
What happened your comment disappeared?  We didn't censor you.

Though
if you did start talking politics maybe another admin deleted your comment.

I didn't see it regardless.

One line
One line on politics, something about a bell ringing and having to clean the blood off the bell that was previously on someone's hand. That was it. The rest was baseball. So any deviation from baseball gets axed or is it a content-based decision?

I'm not sure what happened
We rarely ever censor.  Usually it's something really offensive to another user, a political / religious statement that is deemed offensive or spam.

I'll try and find out what happened.
