Season Ticket Holders Night

Sbeck and I headed down to the Season Ticket Holders Night at Petco.  There we met up with fellow Gaslamp Baller Tfast.  A-Gone, Kouz and Randy Wolf were already on stage when we walked in. Rather than hear what they had to say, we headed straight for the merchandise sale.  I picked up some Padre board shorts and a new hat.
After scoring some killer deals we filled up on free food.  Padres and free food don't belong in the same sentence, but it's true, everything was free.  I had two bowls of clam chowder, some popcorn, part of a pork sandwich, a hotdog and coke, oggi's pizza and some dip and dots for dessert.  I was really feelin' it later.

We settled in just in time to hear DePodesta, Black, Towers, Alderson speak.
The panel had an overall theme:  The Padre Minor league teams, Kouzmanoff, and Did you catch that Charger game on Sunday?

Here are some direct quotes that sum up the panel's discussion:
"The Padre Farm System is going to be great this year.  We were ranked 29th last year, so we can only get better."
"Trust what we're doing.  How `bout that Kouz?!  You all thought we we're crazy, but look how Kouz is doing."
"I just got off the phone and Fukudome is not a Padre.  We couldn't work out a deal, but don't worry we signed another Japanese player.  So I'm really excited."  (Crowd erupts in Boos)  "How `bout them Chargers, they've won 7 of their last 9!" (Crowd doesn't buy it)
"Instant replay is in MLB's future.  The Padres could have been world champs with replay, because everyone knows Holiday missed the plate."

The real fun began when the Q&A segment started.  This guy was my favorite (and notice who's running things in the background).

"So wouldn't it be nice to have a big bat behind Adrian?  Why K.T. do you keep letting these heavy hitters get away?  Will we ever have a decent offense?"
I'm telling you, it was brutal.

Peavy showed up in time to settle down the crowd.  He was real sorry for choking in Colorado, and he convinced everyone the Padres will win the World Series in '08.
After the Q&A we were in for a couple of surprises; Trevor Hoffman and Fireworks.  I liked the fireworks better.
