Way to Go, Jake. Please stay.
I will personally take up a collection among fans to meet your salary demands.  I pledge 10 dollars a strike-out.  Which will wipe out my entire bank account by about game 30 of 2008.

Also: If I'm typing this too prematurely, and we come to find out Peavy doesn't get the Cy, then I put a pox on all baseball writers and vote to ban the sport entirely.  There is no point in playing baseball games at all if something as obvious as Jake's dominance doesn't get recognized.

I'll put in money too
May not be able to afford $10/strike out. Ha ha.  Maybe $.01/strikeout.  If we all did that, it may add up to a lot.  Just heard an interview with KT on the radio and it really seems like they are working hard on signing Peavy to long-term deal.  GREAT NEWS!!  I don't get why Coach John Canterra is so opposed to signing him.  He's insane.

Yeah, didn't we already KNOW that like back in August???

DEWEY DEFEATS TRUMAN!
...of the blog world. I'm a'scurred of jinxes. :)

If I manage to jinx this...
It will be the most epic jinx since Dewey and Trumann and that in itself will be epic.

by Dex on Nov 15, 2007 10:12 AM PST up reply actions

If this is Jinx-able baseball shouldn't be a sport
Honestly.  This is beyond obvious. And it's objective.  If Peavy doesn't win, then baseball just becomes, I don't know, the Academy Awards, where any old shit can happen for no reason.

There are rules in baseball. This isn't 'Nam.

Webb wins the Cy Young....
It's now official.
"All three of us probably were deserving of it and probably a couple more guys, too," Webb said. "I knew that I had a pretty good chance."

It's long...and it's complicated, WG.
It all started in the wee hours of October 2nd. I can't give exact details but I can tell you the past 45 days have involved a short stay at Reclusorio Norte in Mexico City...five or six (or was it a week?) strung-out days in a seedy motel on the outskirts of Key West with none other than Tracey Gold...a stolen Buick Riviera...and a cease and desist order from a law firm representing motoole. My (court-appointed) advisor says he sees tremendous upside in my rehab. Other than that...not much happening.

Tracey Gold
I assume she brought the booze.  And THE FUN.

THAT
was your triumphant return? sheesh.
Let's go drink some beer.

Awful, huh?
Don't blame me...my hands were shaking so bad that Tracey had to do my first post for me...something was obviously lost in the translation.

Anyway, congrats to Jake. That is just awesome.

In case anyone is interested...
I just got a call from Randy Jones inviting me to the ballpark this afternoon for a press conference with Alderson and Peavy. It is at 4 O'clock, and you just enter through the homeplate gate.

Fine...the call was recorded. I am not cool enough to get a personal phone call from Randy Jones.

I'm totally going.  Already told my boss.  Now I just gotta find someone to go with me.

Write a diary! Take pictures! PeavyRules, call the Hude. She would totally go with you.

by Dex on Nov 15, 2007 11:28 AM PST up reply actions

Just texted her
Otherwise I found someone else who would go too.  I'm set.  I'll take photos for sure.  Have to stop home first and get my camera.

JaKKKKKKKKKKKKKe
The Yankees tried to make the greatest baseball player alive, by cultivating the DNA from Babe Ruth, Joe Dimaggio, Mikey Mantle, Lou Gerhig and Rickey Henderson.  After creating this being, they nourished him with nothing but the meat from 1 year old black rhinos, California Condor's eggs and the juice from purple apples.  They invested millions of dollars in scientist, instructors, and trainiers.  This ballplayer is not Jake Peavy because Jake Peavy struck this man out on a slider, permanently seperating arm from body and destroing the fabric of his soul.
