Mike Cameron may use stimulants to counterract all the alcohol he been drinking

Why would Cameron need a stimulant? Doesn't he seem like the type to have a reserve of energy? Well, maybe he needs stimulants because he plays baseball while on depressants. Namely... ALCOHOL!

This was sent to us from from an editor at Crown Publishing and is from the book Andy Roddick Beat Me With a Frying Pan:

It's not as common as greenies, but big leaguers have been known to step on the field liquored up. In his autobiography, pitcher David Wells said he was "half drunk" during his 1998 perfect game. It's one more trait that Wells has in common with his idol Babe Ruth, who, legend has it, was often bombed on the field. Other Yankees known for playing shit-faced are Hall of Famers Mickey Mantle and Whitey Ford, after whom the Betty Ford Clinic was named.

Almost every current major leaguer I spoke to knew of players who had stepped on the field under the influence. When asked what the signs were, the players typically responded the way Giant Ryan Klesko and Padre Jake Peavy did: "I just knew." Interestingly, another Padre, center fielder Mike Cameron, had a more intimate experience with game-day tipsiness:

"Shit, I've played drunk."

When?

"New York City."

What were the circumstances?

"I went four for four with two jacks and eight ribbies. I'm not saying that's the only day I played drunk, but that was the best one."

Further evidence that vodka tonics may replace anabolic steroids as the new performance enhancer of choice.
WOAH! I mean, granted, other players obviously have admitted to playing while under the influence of the booze, but still.

Performing while drunk
The longest distance/quickest time I've ever run was when I was drunk. It was on campus and after the bars, I felt like I had to get some exercise.  It was like nothing before or since.  Obviously getting drunk to perform something athletic is not a good idea, but it's weird how sometimes it pays off.

What I don't get...
Is that the publisher sent me the same stuff. Like all I do on my blog all day is smear Padres. Now if it was Eliezer Alfonso or another Giant sure, or of some publisher wants to send me the juicy gossip about Johnny Depp, absolutely. I'll begrudgingly post that, so long as there are also pictures. But why would I care about spreading dirt on the Padres?

BTW, I'm posting this while drunk. And I think I'm doing a famn dine job of it too.

The sad part is that I'm only drunk
because I ran out of my nutritional supplements.

Beer Clarity
Last time I was up partying with my buddies at UC Davis, a buddy of mine said he was the most awesomest beer pong player because he had beer clarity. He said that after a few beers, he just became better (dude goes to Stanford mind you).

He was right....but his window was very small...after like the first 3 rounds he was garbage...so there may be some truth to this. You definitely have to concentrate more when you are highly inebriated at ANYTHING...

I know the best hamburger I ever had was when i was drunk...and i painted like the most awesome sun lol

...and we're STILL waiting for MATT HOLLIDAY to touch the plate.

it's kinda true
I know that I become MUCH better at darts and pool after a couple, but once I get to 2 1/2 beers, I'm shit.

Once I finish that third beer, I'm dancing naked in the streets.

Remind me
to buy you a six pack

beer clarity
Some of the beer clarity effect can be explained by...

 - the fact that you're judgment is clouded and you might only THINK you're performing better.
 - the fact that you've had a chance to warm up playing pool/pong/darts during your first two beers.
