News and Notes

  • Schilling is such a little drama queen.  Try this, think of something lame and chances are he's done it.  Whined like a little bitch after getting a no hitter broken up by a bunt?  Check.  Writing a blog?  Check.  Writing love letters to his teammates?  Check.  Lying about a fake bloody sock?  Check.  Nobody cares about you Schilling!  Nobody cares about the stupid Red Sox!  We only care about A-Rod opting out of his contract with the Yankees!
  • This story about Torre going to the Dodgers isn't very exciting.  I'm not one of those people that believes that a manager has a whole lot to do with the success of a team.  I've always thought that a manager can only hurt a team.  For instance take Bud Black who shoved Milton Bradley to the ground, pounced on him and tore his ACL with his teeth, that didn't help the team.  I hope the Dodgers do bring A-Rod to LA.  I've heard he's a great clubhouse guy and will really help the team's already spectacular chemistry.  Hell, bring over all the aging former Yankee stars, I'm still not scared.
  • Padres Mail Bag is in the house.  The long and short of it is that Corey Brock thinks that Geoff Blum will be back next season and that Will Venebal is still a year away from starting.  The last question asks who the Padres got in the Linebrink trade.  Now that is one lazy Padre fan.  Instead of just looking up the answer on the internet, he uses the internet to write Corey Brock and ask him.
  • Dasani Water is really tap water. So you're telling me all that free water that Pad Squad Andre was giving us was tap water?! I want my money back!

Anyone else
Not a fan of Brock's coverage of the Padres? I know he came over halfway through the season from the Cubs? but still. If you have a limited number of questions to answer why in the world would you pick those lame-ass ones!! Not a fan.

BTW Pads '08 schedule is up on Padres.com!!!!!!

SUPER tough inter-league play this year. On the road vs Cleveland and the Yanks. At home vs the Tigers, Twins and perennial arch-enemies the M's!
Ouch!!

Actually
He came over from the Mariners at the begging of the year.

But I agree with you. He seems like an idiot.

What happened to Lyle Spencer?
I actually enjoyed reading his mailbags.

Schilling
Interestingly enough, he lists the Padres as one of the teams he would like to play for if Boston doesn't resign him. Part of the reasoning is that the city is good for his family and he feels the Padres have a legitimate shot at getting into the post season.

As much as I generally don't like Schilling's attitude, he is definitely a competitor. I wouldn't mind seeing him in our rotation. We could use a couple of aholes on our team, no more of this nice guy stuff.

Schilling
Like the fact that he had the Mets in there and not the Yankees.

Disagree
If I had to put together a list of guys who I could veto if the Pads ever made a move on them, Schilling would be first on my list.  I can't stand that guy.  No possible way I could root for him.  Every time he walked to the mound, I'd root for Pad Squad Andre to put a bottle of Dasani in that launcher thing and hit old Curt right in the head with it.  Let him take his stupid blog, his computer games and his lifetime supply of ketchup elsewhere.

HATE that guy.

(But I know sdsuaztec4 loves him.)

Don't get me wrong
I dislike Schilling too, I just wouldn't have a problem with him on the team. I am just through with having to like everyone on the roster.

Hahaha!
Wasn't Uncle Milty supposed to be the guy we could all love to hate?  Instead, we all just ended up loving the guy.  Some may have reservations after <ahem> a certain incident, but the warm fuzzies are still going on for him.  There might be something about the beach vibes that prevents us from hating (except in the case of crappy players, rather than crappy human beings).

Yeah
I want more Padres that I can openly hate.  I miss the old days of ripping on Nevin and Klesko.  Everybody now is so likable, it's annoying.

I like
How you include "writing a blog" as something lame.
