Festival Time!

Though there's no website yet, Friar Fest will be held January 27 and 28.

For the second year, FriarFest will take over PETCO Park on Jan. 27-28. Padres fans will be introduced to new manager Bud Black and can also enjoy a tour of the clubhouse and 30 interactive booths. Kids can clock the speed of their fastball in a bullpen session, run the bases and hang out in the dugout. In addition, the Padres semi-annual garage sale allows fans to purchase game-used bats and jerseys with all proceeds benefiting the Padres Foundation for Children.
Unfortunately, I will not be in and instead be out as I'll be attending the National Sports Forum instead (as long as I can find somebody to fund the SDSU Case Competition Team, which may or may not happen... so maybe I will be attending Friar Fest).

I'm sure jbox and Jonny Dub are going so be sure to say hello and take plenty of pictures.

see you there
not sure which day I will go though.  I will have to see what the schedule is for both days.  LAst year they let season ticket holders in early so we wil see if that happens again.  That was the only way I was able to get a pass to see Brian Giles and Greene.

Re: season ticket holders' early entrance
How did you verify your season ticket holdership?  Or will they mail out invitations?
Relax, all right? Don't try to strike everybody out. Strikeouts are boring! Besides that, they're fascist. Throw some ground balls - it's more democratic.

Email
Last year I think I received an email with the coupon on it so I could enter one hour earlier than the general public.  I am not sure what they are doing this year.  They usually wait till the week before to do notifications.  As to how I verified my season ticket holdership, I have been one since 97.  As long as I pay my final payment on the 15th then I will remain in good standings with the Padres.  I do remember bring my invoice that had my account number on it with my id.   I do not remember if they looked at it though.  It would not hurt to bring it.  The email will tell you what you should bring that day.  Once I get mine I will bring the info here for fellow season ticket holders like yourself.

I've never been
How much does it usually cost? For people who have gone, what should I expect? I should be there, and I will take plenty of pictures!

I believe it is free
If I remember right I did not pay a thing last year.  I should be getting more details soon though.  I usually get an email newsletter that breaks it down.  I will keep you posted.  My only recommendation is get their early.  I got their early because season ticket holder got in an hour early than the general public.  So I got their probably two hours before the general public and there was already a long line.  I am not sure which Padres are doing the meet and greets but I remember they always had one star. coach and then a former player on each panel.  They only allow so many people per session with the players.  Once the tickets to each season are gone they are gone.  You only get one ticket per entry too.  If you want more you have to walk out and re-enter.  This allows everyone a chance to see someone.
