Mirabelli and Towers are like a couple of middle school girls

So basically, kind of out of the blue, Towers decided to take shots at Mirabelli behind his back. Unfortunately for the maturity of everybody involved who actually is older than 15, Towers decided to gossip to Tim Sullivan of the UT who seriously can't keep his mouth shut.

"He called (Dave) Roberts (when Mirabelli was traded) and said, 'I guess I'm getting called back to the big leagues,' " Towers said before Monday's game with the Dodgers. "I'm glad I didn't hear that. . . . I don't miss him. These guys don't miss him."

And so Mirabelli was all like, "Nu-UH! Yo, he did not say that. Oh no he di'nt!" As evidenced here:

``It's always been known that airing your laundry in the media is not good business. For some reason, he chose Doug Mirabelli as a guy he really has strong ill feelings toward."

And...

Mirabelli would not address the allegation that he asked out of a game.

``I'd rather not elaborate on that," Mirabelli said. ``Like I said, there are things he said that I don't think were totally accurate. It was unprovoked and it had nothing to do with anything except taking a whack at Doug Mirabelli.

``Hopefully I won't get crucified over one person's opinion of Doug Mirabelli. The Red Sox brought me back and obviously they didn't feel that way about me."

My take on this is that it was probably really bad form for Towers to be talking smack about a player that's gone and that we were able to benefit from (Bard and the Claw). That being said, anybody who isn't Ricky Henderson and talks in the third person as much as Doug Mirabelli apparently does... Well he's just asking for it.

KT blasting Mirabelli....

I can't ever remember KT bad-mouthing a player like that. Obviously, he was still boiling about it...five months later. If the things KT said are accurate...I can totally understand. I don't know if he needed to talk about it in the press. But, I do hope Doug enjoys watching the Padres play in the playoffs from his couch in Beantown.

I still remember my wife's reaction when she realized the Padres traded Mark Loretta for Doug Mirabelli, straight up: "We traded Mark Loretta, our team MVP, for that fat back-up catcher with the bad attitude?"

I got in his ear

I went to Anaheim to see the Red Sox on a Thursday night. I had scored some box seats right next to the left field foul pole. Before the game Beckett and MiraA-hole are tossing the ball and I'm ten feet from Dougie Not-fresh. I yell "Doug, you are a jerk and I'm glad you're out of San Diego!" loud enough for not only him to hear me, but also the many fans aroung watching.

KT shouldn't have gone public, most of us already knew...

Answering my own question....

The Padres will host the Boston Red Sox on June 22, 23 and 24. The games on Friday the 22nd and Saturday the 23rd will be 7:05 p.m. starts, while the homestand finale will be a 1:05 p.m. affair.

"WELCOME HOME, DOUG!"

Air it out week...

I'm no Mirabelli fan so I don't miss him or care too much about what he has to say but I do love the article on ESPN that says Mirabelli came off of one of his biggest games going 2 for 3 raising his average to .198!!!!! HAHAHAHAHA.

If you want some real airing out, ol' Giambi is calling out A-Rod on the Yanks. That must be a tough team to play for. No room for error from your fans, manager, owner, or even players.
