Petco Park is Smoke Free

Last night they had one of those teasers on the news.  "After the Olympics see the major change at Petco Park.  Find out what you will never be able to do again!!!!"

I thought for sure they had outlawed "the wave" or made hot dogs illegal.

Turns out you can't smoke at Petco anymore.  No more designated smoking areas.

"I think we're the first, but I don't know that for sure, so we're not making that claim," Alderson said.

I guess people were complaining about second hand smoke and others were putting out their cigarettes on the walls and throwing their butts on the ground.

Does this mean that all those smokers are going to switch to smokeless tobacco?  Is Petco gonna have spittoons everywhere?

Which gets me thinking, how long before the MLB makes chew illegal for players.  I gotta think it's gonna happen at some point.  Who on the team still chews?  Peavy always has a huge baseball size wad in his cheek.  Trevor always has a bit under his bottom lip.  He also has that little bit of spit that stays on his lip between pitches.

Walk up to any hottie Pad Squader or fan and say, "Um, miss, I'm gonna have to ask you to leave."

"Why?"

"Because.......you're SMOKIN!"

Is this not America?
But you can't hold a whole league responsible for the behavior of a few, sick twisted individuals. For if you do, then shouldn't we blame the whole MLB system? And if the whole MLB system is guilty, then isn't this an indictment of our athletic institutions in general? I put it to you, Selig!- isn't this an indictment of our entire American society? Well, you can do whatever you want to us, but we're not going to sit here and listen to you badmouth the United States of America. Gentlemen!

Chew?
Didn't the pads go to a chew-less dugout a couple of years ago for a while? I remember reading something about how they were the first team to ban that stuff in the dugout but when I watched the games I still saw people chewing. Eh. I personally find it totally disgusting. I also find smoking and urniating in public disgusting too. Maybe I'm a prude.

...and by chew, I don't mean Big League Chew.

It may be illegal in the dug out
but it's must not be illegal in their mouth, cuz they got big ol' wads.

Wow!
If they really did ban this stuff, it seems we are becoming the New York Yankees, banning all this freaking stuff.  I doubt that we would ever get that much money or ban that much stuff, but that is the path you start going down when you do this stuff.
Where I come from, I have to use a shotgun to protect myself from Dodger fans.
