Sue-Sue I need another route. Sue-Sue am I a tard?

I hate those commercials for that TomTom GPS thing. Seriously, is that dude retarded? Who's that supposed to appeal to? Why isn't his date jumping out of the car at the next stoplight to get away from that psycho?

Anyways, here are some links for your weekend during Chargers commercials:

Let's go Chargers. Let's kill these guys.

from the same article about Manny...
"Team president Sandy Alderson has told confidants flatly he will not."

Please hold the line Sandy. Jake and Adrian for Manny?...I don't want it

no... god no...
I just don't see the logic there...

Ramirez for Peavy straight up...
still wouldn't be in our favor (unless the Padres know something about Peavy's health that we don't).

Dex
Dude - why do you fall for those rumors?? That source is even more unreliable than Philly Billy! BTW - did you hear Darren on Friday defending Billy and kinda getting all over KT for saying that at the meeting? Seems like some sort of KT vs Philly Billy feud starting up!

Yeah
I heard that.  Darren said that Philly never even made that statement.  He sounded a bit pissed at KT, for calling out his partner.

What's Phlily Billy rumor mill called?
Have you heard some of the dribble that Philly Billy throws out as rumors. They are always 1/3 obvious stuff you could on any site, 1/3 obvious bad rumors that can be seen all over the interweb (see: any deal involving Scott Linebrink), and 1.3 completely ridiculous, laughable rumors that would never happen in a million years. Philly Billy is a joke. Please people stop feeding the Billy (with free Oggi's and Donovon's), it only encourages him.

The Werndel Wire
Like I said - I rank it's accuracy along with all the celebrity gossip rags. I never hyper ventilate over anything he says. Mostly I laugh.

Peavy pitched too much, too young
Maybe Jake's 2006 record is indicative of other problems.  Although, he did have flashes of brilliance like that 16-K game (I'm still mad at Bochy for pinch hitting Bellhorn for him, even if he did get a hit).  The real question to me is, is Manny worth parting with Adrian... I don't know the answer because we're talking about a tremendous player who is still 5 seasons away from free agency.
Got a flight for tonight and I'm ready to ROLL! All my homies checkin fo' me and I'm ready to GO!

by TheRevRun on Dec 3, 2006 3:11 PM PST   0 recs

No and Yes
No to trading A-Go.  Yes to Jaker on the theory that he is physically falling apart and will not have a long career -- a position one does not come to easily, given how hard Jake plays and what a good kid he seems to be.

by Enzo Hernandez on Dec 3, 2006 3:15 PM PST to parent up   0 recs

yes and yes...
with both:

us parting with adrian and jake for manny but also adding cammy and them adding coco crisp. also either giving us money to equal the deal out with manny's salary or give us Lowell or Youkilis to replace adrian at 1st.

us parting with Linebrink for Giles.  They probably wanted more but wont get much because of Marcus's salary.

Gives us:
1b - Branyan, Lowell/Youkilis
2b - Giles, Blum
SS - Greene, Blum
3b - Kouzmanoff, Lowell
OF - Manny, Crisp, Giles
C - Bard, Bowen

Then we go after pitching in the form of #1 Zito and a 2nd tier starter.

Dude you guys
If KT and Sandy are trying to drive up the Manny price, then it's our job as fans to help him do it. Now seriously. Let's keep this rumor up. We can't have Manny going to LA for prospects. We need the Dodgers giving up some big time talent.

by Dex on Dec 3, 2006 5:14 PM PST   0 recs

Ok Ok
..but I refuse to have a heart attack over it.

THE VOICE OF REASON....
Before I even start this, let me say how happy I was to read the last comment by Dex. When I read the original thread for the first time I was crushed.  I thought: "Dex? Not Dex. This isn't like Dex. Has he lost his f***ing mind?? Was he drinking too many champagne coolies during the Chargers game? Wait...NO! Maybe he's being held hostage and is being forced to write TOTAL BULLSHIT."  Then I read the comment about basically keeping the Manny for Aid & Peavy rumor alive in effort to further to screw the Dodgers. Big sigh of relief.

NOTE: IF YOUR NAME IS THEO EPSTEIN STOP READING!!

People. Seriously. Enough about Adrian and Peavy for Manny.  Enough already.  What more do KT and Sandy have to do to convince us it's not going to happen??? Am I the only one that read Nick Canepa's article yesterday?  If you missed it (and if you did, you missed a damn good one)...let me give you the highlight:

When Canepa asked KT if the Padres were thinking about trading Peavy and Aid for Manny...here was KT's reaction:

"(Expletive) no," he said. "God, I don't have enough time in the day to keep knocking this (manure) down. It's talk radio. It's crazy. Lunacy. Neither player has been offered in a trade, I can assure you that.

"I can honestly tell you, in my discussions with the Red Sox, they haven't brought them up, nor have we offered them."

IT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.

Oh. One more thing. Dex, if you think Richard is winning the thread on the changes in ticket pricing you HAVE been drinking too many champagne coolies.

Let's have some fun out here! This game's fun, OK? Fun goddamnit.

Manny ain't comin here
..and you don't want him. Too old, too costly and he'll make every fly ball an adventure in the bigger Petco outfield. Do not give up Jake Peavy, the Padres will regret it. This won't happen anyway, so I wouldn't worry about it.

However, other newspaper reports from the midwest say the Pads are in the mix for Jason Schmidt.

Chicago Tribune MLB beat writer Paul Sullivan 12-3:

Ted Lilly appears to be the No. 1 priority, (for the Cubs) ahead of Gil Meche, though the New York Yankees might blow away any Cubs offer. Toronto, Lilly's current team, also is a contender. Jason Schmidt also is on the radar. Though he is rumored to be leaning to a West Coast team--either the Dodgers, Padres or his hometown Mariners--agent Randy Hendricks told ESPN.com Schmidt is "not committed to the West Coast."  Jim Hendry has denied a report the Cubs have offered Schmidt $45 million over three years, but sources indicate Hendry would be willing to do a three-year deal if the price is right.

It's on ESPN Insider...
The A's are close to signing former Padre LOOGy Alan Embree.

by JLaff on Dec 4, 2006 9:26 AM PST   0 recs

do we get anything
out of Embree signing with someone else? I know he was offered arbitration but what type of player is he and what compensation would we get?

by frequentfriar on Dec 4, 2006 4:51 PM PST to parent up   0 recs

compensation
Not a clue but did you know he had a $50,000 bonus promised in his contract if he was the starting pitcher at the all-star game last year!

Supplemental First Round Pick
Baseball talk for a extra pick after the first round ends and before the second round begins. This is the compensation for what is called a Type B Free Agent.

Dave Roberts
Dave called in to XX this morning and seemed pretty happy with his new contract up in San Fran. 3 years - 18 mil or so... That's pretty good money for that guy.

I'm really thinking the Pads have something up their sleeve in left. Something that will unite as well as inspire greatness. Two words: Ricky Henderson.
