How sexy is the Padres locker room now?

The Padres were already known for their Big League Hair. We were the club that had Anna Kournikova throw out the first pitch that began the greatest month in our club's history. Brian Giles already lurked the locker room making out with players and teabagging reporters. The history of our club includes Carlos Hernandez showing up to retirement parties in all leather. Steve Garvey once lurked America's Finest City looking for tail and finding it in ample supply.

And now we have Mike Piazza.

I don't even swing that way and I am tittilated. I can not even wait to see Brian Giles make out with Mike Piazza on camera only to have Ryan Klesko come out and start a catfight out of girlish jealousy. You thought there were rumors before about Piazza? Everybody in the world saw Giles make out with Ramon. Giles has a history for this kind of stuff. And now that sexy, hairy Piazza is where he belongs. In San Diego.

It's gonna be a good blogging season for Gaslamp Ball. I'm so excited.

Can't someone adroit in the ways of photoshop give us a sneak preview of Piazza/Giles?  I can't wait ... and I'm not sure I'm okay with that.

If Piazza is catching...
...I just stole 2nd base. Probably 3rd, too.
He'd better not catch more than 90 games as the NL will run and run and run and run.....but not a lot of money for as much damage he will cost the Pads, sorry......

Catcher Defense
Not to make light of catcher defense as it's the big knock on Piazza, but I can live with the other team trying for that stolen base as long as it doesn't become too big a distraction for the pitchers. Ramon wasn't exactly known for his ability to throw out a runner either. I think the bigger problems we had at catcher last season were 1. Lack of plate blocking skills and 2. Passed balls.

With Piazza I don't think we lose much on catching thieves, but we will likely improve at blocking the plate and keeping the ball in front of home.

I am thrilled!
This is a dream come true for me. Piazza has been my favorite player since he came up with Dodgers. Something about him..and yeah..I'm a chick so I know exactly what that something is!! No wait, that's not entirely ture. I have always loved catchers. My childhood fav was Carlton Fisk. Anyway, Mike's hitting though just was so off the charts that you could not help but admire him. No, he has never been the best defensive catcher all around, but he is TOUGH. He freaking BLOCKS THE PLATE. And his pitchers have always done well with him - obviously he establishes a good relationship with them. Look at the staffs he handled with the Dodgers and Mets.

My 9 year old son and I were giddy with excitement at the announcement. This signing has as pumped up for the season now. Let's get on with it already!

Pink Uniforms
They should just go all out and start wearing pink alternates on Sundays.
