CHAMPS

I just got home from the game. We did it, people. We finally made it to our destination. It was a long time coming, but now that we're here, oh MAN does it feels good.

I love the way it happened too. When the Padres started piling on the runs, you could feel the crowd start to get more and more pumped. It was... dare I say it... Electric.

It's all a blur to me now, but I remember bits and pieces.

  • Pedro Astacio really like-likes San Diego and San Diego crushes on Pedro Astacio right back. In fact, Petey and San Diego were seen in the alley behind the school holding hands and smooching.

  • Pad Squad Cory (aka Headband Man aka Gloves) hooked us up with a big ole bag of peanuts. I gorged on peanuts for the last three innings which contributed to my euphoric daze.

  • Thanked Pad Squad Melissa for her interview. Pad Squad Catherine may do an interview with us next.

  • Damian Jackson was wearing a shirt under his jersey that read, "My shit's tight, bro". I thought that was pretty funny.

  • There was a lot of cheering and bumping knuckles

  • The "flaxseed oil" heckle on Barry Bonds works better in theory than it does in practice.

  • People got really quiet when Aki pitched the 8th. Dudes, it's not like we're in Arizona. Aki's all good in San Diego.

  • I told Paul the Usher about my plan to rush the field when the Padres won. He talked me out of it.

  • Instead, I took off all my clothes and rushed K Street. If you were walking along K Street after the game, I was the naked guy with the Eddie Bauer backpack.
Tomorrow, I'm sure I'll remember more better stuff. For now, I'm going to go to bed and dream postseason dreams...

Ahhhhhhh... It really does feel good.

Supporting the team from North County
My girl Jeanette & I were holding down the fort in the Dido.  No doubt in the 7th I said "if we leave now we can probably make it downtown before the game is over.  Don't you think?"  Needless to say we could not pull ourselves from the excitement on the TV.  I am just now about to go to bed.  Jeanette & I agree yes we should have gone today.  What was I thinking? Everyone at work kept saying are you going tonight and I just was like well.... Sure I went Monday & Tuesday and I am going tomorrow and Sat & Sunday but we should have gone.  Tonight is when it matters.  However if we did go to the game we would not been able to see all of the post game stuff on Channel 4 and the local news and ESPN.
I am sure there will be more celebrating this weekend.  That is what I keep trying to tell myself.

However I feel obligate to let those that were at the game know about what you did not see.  Weisbarth was interviewing Ramon & then Giles comes over and gives Ramon a huge-extremely sensual kiss on the check.  There is a lot of passion in that man.  Jeanette and I both looked at each other and said WOW.  I know I am married but WOW.  Then later on channel 10 replay of the intro to 11 o'clock news on channel 15 Hoffman was being interviews on the field and Giles literally tackled him and started trying to give Hoff a hicky.
Clearly Giles is quite comfortable with himself.  Jeanette even said "do you think he is doing that because of all the talk about him being a little off his rocker?"  I think maybe so.  But hey I am sure each of us would be kissing complete strangers in the streets of SD at that moment.  For goodness sakes I hear Dex was really running around naked in the Gaslamp District:)
One last note before I hit the hay.  I went to email my esposo who is far-far away in another galaxy about the news and sure enough he beat me to it.  All I have to say is news travels fast and far.  Here is a brief clip of what he had to say:
For just a moment, there was peace in Iraq, as all stopped their violence against American forces and each other, to enjoy the news that the Padres had won the NL West Division!  As with weddings, celebratory gunfire ensued and things were back to normal.

Savor the moment, it's only the 4th time in our history and last time ('98) I was spending my first year away from home on Active Duty, and it took us all the way to the World Series!  Cheers!

R
---He sent pictures that I will send to Dex and Dex can post it.  Dude made a rally sign and everything.  WOW.  He makes me proud I have to say:)  Keep is spreading the Faith all over the world.

What an amazing night!!
I didn't leave the park till about 11:45.  There was just too much going on.  Sweeney taking video of everyone.  Sweeney, Peavy, Eaton, Hensley on the dugout giving high fives to everyone.  Kids running around on the field.  Watching all the guys with their beautiful wifes. (side note...why are they all so beautiful and how is it that most of them are married at already at such a young age?)  I took tons of pictures but haven't transferred them to my computer yet.  I can't wait to do that though, and I'll be sure to share them all with you.  I'd love to see everyone else's pictures too, because I know there are a ton out there.  Wowwww!!!! I've been waiting for this one since I purchased my season tickets in 1999.  My roommate and I just couldn't leave last night, even after we got a call from our ride that it was leaving.  Basically, our response was, "we'll find a way back to our car somehow, but we're not leaving now."  No one around my seats believed me that the team would come out onto the field.  That was perfect though because it left more room for us die-hards.  I'm still beaming!

I wish I coulda
been there (which I was), seen it on tv, and heard it on the radio all at once.  I like hearing what everyone has to say.  I guess that woulda been possible had I remembered to bring my radio to the game, but I didn't.  I remember back in '98, when they clinched in LA, most of us probably watched it on t.v.  I remember being just as happy then as I was yesterday.  Just seeing the guys so happy is what does it for me.

Hells Bells
That was awesome that they did Trevor Time in the 9th even though it wasn't a save situation.  It was sooooo right.  It was like he was "saving" the season, and not just the game.  What a perfect ending to a perfect game after a rollercoaster season.

I missed it by one day
I thought, I'm in town for business for only two days, taking the redeye out on Wednesday.  I show up to Tuesday's game, hang out with Dex and Jbox for a little, and after a great game, thought, it would have been nicer if they clinched.  And sure enough, they do it the next day.  Timing man.

Anyone have actual video of Giles ambiguously gay moments.  This is killing me!

it's safe to take out the "ambiguous" part
