Live Blogging Blum on Mighty XX

  • Blum is going to platoon at second for the rest of the season
  • Blum is loyal to this city
  • Blum was worried that he'd be traded
  • The club house mood was miserable. They took the field yesterday "heartless".
  • A lot of wonder in the clubhouse. He wouldn't say "anger" (that's a strong word)
  • The guys in the clubhouse don't know much about Wally Joyner except that he's a nice guy

Blum
You know what?  Blum is now my favorite Padre.  We have KILLED this guy around here - but he's been busting his ass, hitting the ball, never complains about playing time and he wants to be in SD.

I AM ON BOARD, BLUMMER!!!

I'd like to point out
that I took up for him when he was getting crap from everyone on here. I never was quite sure why because he was really sucking and, as you've all seen recently, I have a tendency to overreact. Maybe it's just the part of me that likes an underdog.

Yes you did
And I should've paid attention rather than getting sucked into the vortex of Blum hate.

Geoff Blum, great guy
Should not be starting for a major league baseball team.  Streaks be damned.

agreed
great guy off the bench, or when somebody goes down for a week or two.  better teams like the world champion white sox had enough depth to use him the way he's meant to be used.  we, on the other hand, do not have that sort of depth.

Who is the leader of the Padres?
is there a team leader? I mean, I think Hoffman is, but he's a relief pitcher...
is there an everyday player that is the team leader?
I don't know the Padres as well as most of you on this site, considering I'm following Milton Bradley from the A's, and wish him and his team well, but someone educate me on the leadership on this team.

Giles...ok
that makes sense
I saw him and his brother on some show and saw how big clowns they were, but it doesn't seem to come off on the field.
NO matter where Giles has been, I've never "seen" his personality.
is he vocal at all?
would Cameron consider Giles a leader and follow his lead?
