A GIF Story: Evy's All-Star First Half

Warning: flash flooding may occur upon viewing.

We're officially "halfway" through the season. The All Star Break is here. Tonight our boy Everth Cabrera will be representing the Padres in the All Star Game at Citi Field. I've already talked about how he got to this point, but let's take another look at some specific instances from the first half of this season that have made him All-Star worthy... with GIFs!

April 17: Everth hammers one off that guy who tied with Roy Halladay for the 2011 SB Nation Cy Young Award. It lands in the Dodgers bullpen for his second home run of the season.

April 20: Evy shows his range and speed, making a long run from shortstop to catch an Angel Pagan popup and end the inning.

May 7th: Justin Ruggiano hits a grounder to Evy, who quickly turns and throws him out at first base.

May 15: Nate McLouth hits a line drive that would've been a base hit if Everth hadn't made this fantastic catch.

May 19: Evy notches three of the Padres' five stolen bases of the day.

May 20: Everth robs Matt Holliday of a base hit when he comes up with this inning-ending play.

May 25: Everth goes 3-for-4 with four RBI and falls just a triple short of a cycle.

May 28: Michael Morse tries to score from first on a double. Alexi Amarista fields the ball at the wall and throws it to the cut-off man ECab who fires a rocket to Yasmani Grandal to get the out at home.

June 7: Everth dives for the ball and makes the play at 1st to get the runner out. Half an inning later, he beats out an infield single to drive in the tying run.

June 12: Possibly my most favorite of his defensive plays. Ever. Ball caroms off Logan Forsythe and Evy is there to save the day, catching the ball as it falls back down, doing the spin move, and throwing a bullet to Kyle Blanks in time to make the out.
