Yonder Alonso tweeted that he had a broken hand last night and it was "no fun". Padres manager Buddy Black says Kyle Blanks, Jesus Guzman and Mark Kotsay will all share time at first base until Alonso returns instead of just letting Blanks play.
Corey Brock has the article up on Padres.com.
"It was getting better," Alonso said before the Padres' 6-5 victory over the Rockies on Thursday. "This morning I woke up, and it was a lot better. Today when they were working on it, around the area was a lot better. Later on, when they started touching the part where it was really sore and hurting, it just got worse and worse."
So just to summarize his hand was better. Then it was a lot better, then it was lot better again. Then it was worse and worse again. Sometimes that's just how it goes with broken hands.
I swear you can see broken bones on x-rays, but apparently sometimes you can't because I remember reading a previous article saying that x-rays came back negative, which is to say it positively wasn't broken.
X-rays came back negative on Alonso's wrist, but the team is still waiting for results from his CT-Scan. Alonso will not swing for 4 to 5 days while he recovers.
Even more surprising than a broken hand being no fun, is seeing an embedded tweet in a Padres.com article. Is that the first time that's happened? That's what blogs do! Don't worry I'm going to do one better. I'm going to embed Megan Olivi's response to Alonso. She's cuter anyway.
