The Padres go with Mississippi State C/RHP/OF Hunter Renfroe who projects as an OF. Here's what MLB.com wrote about him:
Raw and toolsy, Renfroe has developed considerably in his three years at Mississippi State.
While there's still some swing and miss to his game, he's progressed tremendously at the plate. The more consistent of a hitter he can become, the more he can tap into his outstanding raw power. He's a good runner who's even better underway, and he has a cannon for an arm. He's strong and physical and might very well fit the profile for a right fielder at the highest level.
Matt Garrioch of Minorleagueball.com wrote a long profile of the prospect back in January which you can find here. Since then he has stepped up in his junior season and elevated his stock.

The Padres have taken a number of pitchers with their top picks in recent years along with some speed slap hitters. This time they go with a guy that has some pop in his bat. You have to like the diversification of prospects they get by going with Renfroe now.
