1st Inning
Chase Headley got a single. Slump probably over.
2nd Inning
They are fine with letting Jesus Guzman get on base again tonight. He singled and reached 2nd on an error. Then, a single by Yasmani Grandal scores Guzman. THE LEAD!
PADRES 1-0
Chase Headley caught a ball that was traveling 108mph off the bat and Everth Cabrera's D made the impossible possible. Overall, a good defensive inning.
3rd Inning
ANOTHER close play at 1st ends a Padres half inning. Seriously, I hate 1st base at this stadium now. It is a cursed square and should be sent to the moon. The MOON.
4th Inning
It started like Episode VI. Return of the Jeddi. Jedd Gyorko smashes a ball to left for a solo home run to push the lead to 2 runs.
PADRES 2-0
You thought his O was good? Well, Jedd's D was just as good. Two great plays keep them off the bases.
5th Inning
Jason Marquis was perfect. Everything was perfect. Then, he became imperfect. Two walks in the inning wipes away a perfect game opportunity, but that no hitter thing is still possible.
6th Inning
Jedd Gyorko walked to lead off the inning. After getting to 2nd on an out, Jesus Guzman gets an RBI double to score Jedd and widen that lead. Yasmani Grandal grounded to the pitcher. Guzman was set to be tagged out in a run down, except they could not actually get him tagged out. Ball drops and runners are on 2nd and 3rd. But, no more runs crossed the plate.
PADRES 3-0
Kyle Blanks makes an INCREDIBLE catch in left. Every single inch was needed for that diving catch. With 2 outs in the inning, Marquis gives up his first hit. No hitter gone. Then, a second hit scores a run. Shutout gone.
PADRES 3-1
7th Inning
A home run in the bottom of the inning makes the game a lot closer than I was hoping it would be. Jason Marquis' night is done. 6 1/3 innings. Gave up 3 hits for 2 ER to go along with 2 walks and 6 strikeouts.
PADRES 3-2
8th Inning
Jesus Guzman gets his 3rd hit of the night.
9th Inning
Padres loaded the bases. Gyorko sac fly RBI. Loaded the bases, Will Venable RBI single. Loaded the bases. Grandal sac fly RBI. In the end, Luke Gregerson shut them down to seal the win.
PADRES 6-2
Padres avoid the sweep and get to take that Happy Flight!
