Robbie Erlin made a start on short notice, won a game and just as quickly was demoted again. He did his duty, throwing 6 2/3s innings. He credited his previous experience as a reliever in the big leagues breeding familiarity.
Jonny Dub and I were at the game and it packed with some 40K fans. Whether it was due to the jersey and pet bandana giveaway or the tickets given to runners of both the Bay Bridge Run and the Rock n' Roll Marathon, it was hard to tell. A large crowd like this coming to see the Blue Jays and the Padres alone doesn't seem conceivable. Maybe it was even the game being pushed back to the 7:05 start from the usual 5:40 Saturday start. I'd hate if the latter was the cause because I like being able to go to an earlier game over a late night affair.
Last night @padres drew 40,000+ vs Bluejays. First 25,000 got giveaways but I think the other 15,000+ liked the 7:10 start versus 5:40.
