Man alive. That was some kind of long ball game. Seventeen innings and just short of 5 hours. The outcome though was never in doubt, because it was May 31st, the winningest day Padres history (now 72% win percentage), but I admit when the game crossed over into June I started to worry.
Clayton Richard pitched deep in relief and earned the win. Here's a quick scoring recap. There wasn't much of it.
2nd inning
Colby Rasmus homered scoring himself and J.P. Arencibia.
2-0 Blue Jays
4th Inning
Edwin Encarnacion homered to left.
3-0 Blue Jays
5th Inning
This was a weird one. Jedd Gyorko doubled to right field driving in Carlos Quentin and Yonder Alonso. Then he scored on a throwing error by the catcher. Here's video of the play.
3-3 Tie
It would stay tied until 12 innings later.
17th Inning
Jesus Guzman singled up the middle scoring Jedd Gyorko. Padres win!
Go Padres!! Get your milk and eggs and get to bed!
