Earliest shutouts in Padres history

USA TODAY Sports

Padres pitchers finally did it, thanks in large part to Andrew Cashner's 7 1/3 scoreless innings. They shutout an opposing team for the first time all season. It took them 32 games, but they accomplished the feat.

It was the fifth latest in their 45 seasons of existence, but it didn't even come close to the franchise record. In 1974 it took the Padres 60 games to record their first shutout which was against the Cardinals. On the other end, twice the Padres started their season with a shutout and it happened in back to back years, 2007 and 2008.
