Eric Stults pitched a solid game, allowing just 2 runs over 6.2 innings, but the offense was the story today. After struggling through the first 7 innings, the bats came alive in the 8th and scored 4 runs in an impressive 2-out rally. They're going to have a happy flight home.
7th Inning
After six and a half scoreless innings, Scott Hairston got bored and hit a two-run shot to left field. Foulweather fans immediately turned the game off.
2-0 Cubs
8th Inning
Jesus Guzman got things started with a leadoff single and Kyle Blanks followed up with a walk. With two leadoff runners on board, the next two batters flailed. Foulweather fans turned the game off again. And then something magical happened. Yonder Alonso singled to right, scoring Guzman. Then Kyle Blanks scored on a passed ball to tie the game. Chris Denorfia walked to keep the rally going, and then Everth Cabrera knocked in the third run of the inning. Chase Headley picked up the final RBI of the rally, bringing Denorfia home on single to second.
