One week before Chase's bobble head night I figured I would share two cool bobble heads I've been able to add to the collection over the past month.
First, I'll start with a bobble head that I've always really liked. It was a giveaway in 2001 which unfortunately was when I had greater priorities than the Padres and collecting. When I started collecting again and I saw the Friar bobble head, I knew I eventually had to have it.It's simple and sweet and I'm a big fan of Friar things since that's all that really ties the Padres back to the beginning.
The day after purchasing the Friar I got an e-mail from none other than Jane Mitchell. Not only did I finally buy the Friar bobble head I had been wanting but I ended up with Jane Mitchell's bobble head. She was nice and asked if I like sports in general or San Diego sports and we exchanged a couple of e-mails. She let me know about her book which looks awesome (just haven't had a chance to pick it up).
The second bobble head is a bit more unique. It is of none other than Jeff Moorad. I had heard about the bobble head from Darren Smith and the guys over at Padres Public so when one came up for sale, I had to have it. I'm assuming it is pretty rare although the person I bought it from has three, one sold before mine and there is one for sale now which he says is the last one.
The bobble head talks though I can't really make out what it says. I e-mailed the guy I bought it from today asking if he knew. Since I just got it in today, hopefully he will respond soon, I'll update it when I find out. Outside of that, Jeff Moorad seems to be on top of a quarter. The bobble head also states he was the 2010 Most Admired CEO, according to the San Diego Business Journal.
Anyways, figured I would share. It's almost game time tonight. Let's get the W.
