The entire San Diego organization has a full slate of games today. The parent Padres are looking to rebound from a tough loss on the moon but that's another story altogether. This one's about the kids.
3:05pm: Ft. Wayne TinCaps @ Great Lakes Loons
Justin Hancock will take the hill for the 'Caps, who are undefeated after two games. Down 2-0 after eight innings last night, the TinCaps went off for six runs in the top of the ninth. Nearly everyone pitched in on the parade of singles, walks, and sacrifices, capped off by an Alberth Martinez triple. Maxx Fried was shaky in the first inning but settled down for the three that followed, leaving the game one run down with four walks, a hit, and five strikeouts to his name.
4:35pm: Tucson Padres @ Salt Lake Bees
Highly-heralded prospect Robbie Erlin gets his first start of the year as the TuPads seek their first win. After dropping the season opener 9-5, Tucson got an early lead on a first inning double by Kyle Blanks but failed to score again while the Bees picked up a pair. Fautino De Los Santos gave up the second run and was tagged with a capital L.
5:05pm: San Antonio Missions v. Tulsa Drillers
Burch Smith gets the ball for the Mish, who are looking to rebound from a 13 inning loss that dropped them to 1-1 on the young season. Jose De Paula went five scoreless innings in his first game since 2011 before the Drillers put a run up in the sixth off of Colt Hynes. Reymond Fuentes, who also had San Antonio's first hit, drove in their only run with a double in the eighth. Matt Stites and Kevin Quackenbush excelled in their AA debuts and the score remained tied at ones until Josh Geer gave up a gopher ball in the thirteenth.
7:05pm: Lake Elsinore Storm @ Rancho Cucamonga Quakes
Starting pitcher James Needy gets the call for the Storm, who evened up their record at 1-1 last night. Despicable Dodger Ted Lilly was making a rehab start and got torched by the Lake Elsinore offense. Kyle Gaedele hit two home runs and Yeison Asencio had one of his own in the fourth. Cory Spangenberg contributed three hits and four stolen bases, running the Storm's league-leading total to 13 steals- in a mere two games.
