From the start rain played a part in the game. Jake Peavy who was supposed to have a rematch vs. Clayton Richard decided to throw a practice game instead so that he'd be sure to get his work in, regardless of the weather.

Padre Center Fielder Alexi Amarista started the game with a lead off double to left field. Jedd Gyorko immediately singled up the center to score Alexi. The Padres had a 1-0 lead.

Carlos Quentin had his first AB of the spring and was hit by a pitch, so he's obviously ready for the season to start.

In the bottom of the first, former Padre Blake Tekotte reached base on a fielding error by Yonder Alonso then promptly stole second. He later was advanced to third and then scored on a Seth Loman sacrifice fly. 1-1.

In the 2nd inning White Sock Dewayne Wise doubled, advanced to third and then scored on a Carlos Sanchez single. The White Sox took a 2-1 lead, but they weren't done. Angel Sanchez came through later in the inning to single on a soft fly ball to Kotsay in right field. Two more runs crossed the plate. 4-1 White Sox.

It started to pour rain in the top of the 4th and after a brief delay it was decided that the game would be cancelled.
