More injury news out of Padres camp: After reaggravating his plantar fasciitis, Logan Forsythe will start the season on the 15-day disabled list. Forsythe had to leave the game on Tuesday after three innings because of the pain in his foot and he returned to San Diego on Wednesday to see a specialist.
Forsythe was set to take over at third base while Chase Headley was out with a thumb fracture. This morning, Bud Black announced that Forsythe would have to miss at least six weeks and Cody Ransom would be the opening day starter at third. Ransom, Jedd Gyorko, and Alexi Amarista will platoon second and third bases in the meantime.
@followthepadres To make room for Gyorko and Ransom on 40-man roster, Black said team will move Kelly & Luebke to 60-day DL this weekend.

Ransom, who signed a minor league contract with San Diego last December after leaving the Diamondbacks to go into free agency, had a decent Spring. He played in 17 games (5 at short stop and 12 at third base) and collected 8 RBI and 10 hits, including 4 homers. This will be a good opportunity for him to get some major league work in while Headley and Forsythe heal.
