Cashner and Stauffer take on the Giants.
After a strong 6-2 win over the Diamondbacks at Salt River Fields yesterday, our Padres return to Peoria today to host the Giants.
Andrew Cashner will make the start and work three-plus innings (or up to 50 pitches). In his last outing, he only gave up one run in 3 1/3 innings whike striking out three batters. Also scheduled to pitch today is Tim Stauffer, who will toss four frames. He last pitched ten days ago and gave up four runs on four hits in two innings of work against the Cubs. Both pitchers are fighting for a rotation spot this season, and with Opening Day just 12 days away, this will be in of their last chances to impress.
The remaining scheduled pitchers for today's matchup are Brad Brach, Huston Street, Daniel Stange, and Luke Gregerson, who are each slated for an inning of work.
You can follow Cashner's and Stauffer's progress against the Giants today with a free webcast on padres.com. First pitch is set for 1:05pm.
GO FRIARS!! KEEP THE FAITH!!
