So if in some hypothetical world you befriend Josh Byrnes at a bar, and after numerous rounds of Jager Bombs he lets you attempt to make one move to better the Padres, who do you call to make the move (ie player agent, other GM etc.)?
Now there are a couple rules:
- It takes 2 to tango, so if you want the deal to go through it has to make since, ie I don't really think Jerry Dipoto is going to jump at the chance to acquire the rights to Patrick Schuster for the low low price of Mike Trout. Also, I don't think the Shin Soo Choo's agent will be able to stop laughing long enough to ask you "where the hell did you get my number" after you offer him 3 years at $1 mil/per.
- You have to respect the Padres current budget and financial situation, ie no offering to post $75 Mil to acquire the negotiating rights to Masahiro Tanaka or acquiring a high price player that will put the Padres over their 2014 budget, without shedding salary in return or getting cash considerations.
