Just seeing how many moves are being made during this Hot Stove season, I am wondering if the Pads can try to do something interesting. I've read that the Blue Jays are shopping CF Colby Rasmus for pitching. Has Rasmus been a bust? Yes. But he is still young and has upside, so why not consider him? Our OF (and team, for that sake) should be built on speed and D. Maybin, who I still like but is too injury prone, can still play, but getting a guy like Rasmus in would be something to mull over.
One last deal we could try is Headley + prospects for Kemp + cash. I know Kemp is a total douche bag, but still, getting $0.75 on the dollar for a guy of his caliber should be something to think about. I know the Doyers have been coveting Headley for quite some time now and they need 3B help. We could essentially move Gyroko over to 3B (his natural position) and move Amarista over to 2B (I believe he played that through the minors). This could be done, but I doubt it ever will. I'm just thinking that getting someone of Kemp's abilities for less than full value is something we shouldn't sleep on, even if he is a douche. I don't think it's the worst idea in the world.
What say you all?
