Welp. The Giants won the NL West. It's been a foregone conclusion for a while now, but I was hoping it wouldn't happen against the Padres yet again. Ted Medenhall said on XX1090 that the Giants have clinched by beating the Padres in 6 of their 8 division championships. I have to admit though, I'm kinda glad that the Padres players have to watch it happen in front of them. I hope they hate it. Maybe seeing the Giants deep throat champagne bottles will motivate them to play less shitty at the beginning of the season next year.
I would have liked to see the Padres play a little less sloppy tonight and with a little more energy down the stretch. They looked so good the last 6 weeks and now they're just fading away like they're playing "Earth Angel" with Marvin Berry. Maybe this last homestand will snap them out of it and they can bury the Dodgers and keep them out of the playoffs. Seeing Adrian Gonzalez fail in his attempt to make the post season will be a nice silver lining.
