Everything clicked for Tucson Tuesday night. Seven different players delivered at least one hit, including one double and three home runs, and four TuPads pitchers teamed up to shut out Fresno by scattering the nine hits they allowed.
Andrew Cashner started for the Li'l Padres and put in two innings of rehab work, striking out a pair and allowing two doubles. Recently exiled Kip Wells came in and picked up where Cashner left off, allowing five fruitless hits over five innings. Jorge Reyes and Jason Ray finished off Fresno, each pitching one inning and giving up one hit.
On the offensive side of things, Vince Belnome and Jedd Gyorko had multi-hit games.Gyorko's included his 21st AAA home run (27th overall); this was Jedd's third home run in as many days. Jesus Merchan and Blake Tekotte also homered.
The Padres head back to Tucson tonight to take on the Colorado Sky Sox. The game begins at 7:05 pm
and features two promotion; tonight is both "Social Media Night" featuring $1 hot dogs and "Budweiser Thirsty Thursday", starring $1.50 beers. Sounds like a pretty good time. [note: I am an idiot. I've been informed today is in fact Wednesday, not Thursday. Who knows what I'm going to think tomorrow is.]
