VICTORY!

The Padres had a 5-3 lead in the 9th when Dale Thayer blew the save on a Garret Jones two run homer to center field. In the bottom of the 9th Everth Cabrera narrowly misses a walk-off hit when Andrew McCutchen runs down a ball near the center field wall.

To extra innings the game would go. In the bottom of the 10th Will Venable draws a walk which brings, the Padres best player, Chase Headley to the plate. "I came up all day with guys on base and couldn't come through," said Headley after the game.

In the first he hit into a fielder's choice. In the third he singled to right. In the 5th he struck out swinging with a man at second. In the 6th he struck out looking with the bases loaded. In the 8th he grounded out with a man on second. In the 10th this happened...

Headley's 21st home run was probably the second most thrilling ending to a game this season, coming in right after Cabrera's steal of home. He absolutely crushed it. "Yeah, I hit that one pretty good" said Chase in his postgame interview. The only thing that could have made the ending more satisfying is if Denorfia hit it instead, said the Padres fans.
