The last remaining architect of the #1 rated farm system in baseball according to Keith Law and others has gone off to try to break the other curse and worship at the temple of Anthony Rizzo. This was part of the stipulation that Jed could only take Jason MacLeod for the first year and now he brings Madison. Does Chris Gwynn come back from Seattle to assume the role and promotion? For every good piece of news, the O'Malleys/Mickelson/Fowler finally finalizing their bid comes DOOM. Jaron Madison has proven he is one of the best in the game having drafted Dustin Pedroia, Jacoby Ellysbury, Anthony Rizzo, Casey Kelly, Joe Ross, Jedd Gyorko, Austin Hedges, and others. I think Byrnes is pretty strong with amateur evaluation but the Jed team lifted this franchise from the depths of Ty Waller/Chief Gayton's endless streak of terrible drafts (Allan Dykstra, Mark Phillips, Sean Burroughs, Nick Schmidt, Cesar Carillo, Donald Tate, etc.) I kind of hope Randy Smith is not put in that role since he was there for that dfaft era during Towers. I feel the franchise is finally on firm footing with a strong farm given the small market but we seem to keep hemorrhaging talent in player evaluation. Is anyone else worried?
