A boring pitcher's duel finally ended when Former Padre / Current Red Mat Latos and Former Red / Current Padre Edinson Volquez were removed from the game. Then some real base ballin' could finally get underway.
So there the Padres were down by one in the 8th. As soon as Latos was replaced by Sean Marshall, Logan Forsythe homered to deep left off the Western Metal Supply building. Game tied. No decision for the starters.
In the bottom of the 9th Former Red / Current Padre Yasmani Grandal doubled on a line drive to right field. The Reds decided to intentionally walk Former Red / Current Padre Yonder Alonso. Then Cameron Maybin laid down the perfect bunt loading the bases for Everth Cabrera. Cabrera hit a ball to deep center that ended the game.
Padres win! Hooray!
