Gotta lay low if you want to avoid getting traded. (Photo by Harry How/Getty Images)
Moments ago, this tweet came out letting people know that there have been trade talks involving Clayton Richard:
#Tigers #WhiteSox and #Orioles have checked in on #Padres lefty Clayton Richard. Former @umichfootball quarterback. Pitches today in SD.
— Jon Morosi (@jonmorosi) July 18, 2012
That's only mildly interesting, until you combine it with this tweet that come out yesterday from Padres.com writer Corey Brock:
#Padres Eric Stults was held back from his start with Tucson in case #Padres needed someone tomorrow. He'll now start tomorrow for T-Pads.

It's certainly possibly that those two tweets aren't connected. The Padres had 5th starter Ross Ohlendorf pitching yesterday and if he spit the bit then they Padres might have required relief help today. Or potentially the team could have been worried that Clayton Richard had a bit of a knock and may be couldn't go. Or they are connected and Richard was involved in some serious negotiations that had the potential to result in an imminent deal.
