It was smooth sailing for eight innings. The Li'l Friars went up 1-0 in the first when Mountaineer Jedd Gyorko gyorked his seventh homer since being promoted three weeks ago and added another in the seventh on Matt Clark's eleventh. Bear Bay kept up his end of the deal, allowing only two hits over six shutout innings. Miles Mikolas, making his first AAA appearance, struck out two in a scoreless seventh and was followed by Erik Hamren and Aussie Josh Spence, who held it down in the eighth. Brad Boxberger had other ideas for the ninth and the Aces put together a pair of runs to tie things up.
To make a long story short, it went twelve innings, they scored again and we didn't. Knuckledragging reliever Cory Burns, acquired in the offseason from Cleveland for Aaron Cunningham, pitched a scoreless eleventh after coming in for Neil Wagner but had trouble in his second inning of work. After walking Adam Eaton, Burns surrendered a triple to Jake Elmore, who would later cross the plate on a Ryan Wheeler single. It was an anticlimactic finale as the TuPads went down 1-2-3 in their half of the inning and it was time for Sam, jodes and I to switch over to Futurama.
