For one I'd like to see Quenitn on the Padres for the next few years. He is an exciting player and one who can hit ball out at Petco. He is a game changer and 2013 would just not be as fun without him. It would benefit the 2013 team to have a real cleanup hitter and legitimate player that will bring fear to opposing pitchers. If Quentin is not on the Padres in 2013 who would be replace him with? Free agents market for hitters is slim in 2013. Carlos Quentin is too valuable to lose and too hard for us to replace.
I think we need to find out before the trade deadline what we are going to do with Quentin. If we want to keep him beyond 2012 shouldn’t we try to extend him now? How about 3 years 36 million. The reason I am thinking we need to make some kind of offer soon is to see what he is thinking. Does he not want to extend with us and can we afford and if not we must trade him. The worst outcome would not extend him now wait past the trade deadline to do so and then he hits free agency can gets more offers and we lost him and get nothing in return. I my eyes it is extend him before the trade deadline or trade him. Agr
