That was f'n crazy. First Andrew Cashner starts his first game for the Padres and pitches 6 1/3 innings of perfect baseball. Then he gives up a hit, a homer and the lead. With the Padres on the ropes in the 9th inning they tie the game up and load the bases. Alexi Amarista on a 3-0 count swings at a ball that might have been ball four and drills it into right field for a grand slam.
As much as I loved the pitching effort and the grand slam. I think I got more enjoyment from watching the team celebrate his entrance back into the dugout by throwing seeds and hugs upon him. Then he kisses his bicep and points to the camera... at me! SWOON!
But my favorite, favorite part was the post game interview where Cuban born Yonder Alonso acted as translator for Spanish speaking Amarista. It was f'n adorable. I couldn't stop smiling.
Someday when Dex continues his goal of ranking all the games of the season, this one will be on top. Best of the year! It's all down hill from here.
Go Padres!
