"Yep. That's a good looking jersey. I wore that jersey when I played. Also I wore a Yankees jersey. Yankees jersey are really coo, right? I mean I played for BOTH the Yankees and the Padres and everybody knows me as a Yankee and they're the greatest ball club in history and I was a pretty important Yankee and Go Yankees, but yeah the Padders are OK too." "You mean 'Padres'?" "Yeah. Whatever."
And much like Luke Skywalker in Empire Strikes Back, Andrew Cashner has found some success in the minor leagues, and while his skills are still raw, he sees his friends suffering and he is coming back to the Majors, vowing that one day he will return to the minors to complete his Jedi training, but we're all pretty sure that he won't come back, or if he does, it'll be a very cursory experience where his minor league pitching coach will say something cryptic like, "OK. You be Jedi now," and then send him on his way.
Let's all watch tonight as Cashner throws throws for the Padres. I'm pretty sure he got up to some pretty good number of pitches in his last minor league start, but nobody keeps track of minor league numbers so I can't give you the link.
My favorite part of the game tonight will probably be the part where Andrew Cashner defies the dark side by jumping off of the Petco Park scaffolding and lands on the Millenium Falcon.
Andrew Cashner throws the ball 100 mph.
