Since we all know that this year is rough, I decided to look at our pitching stats for the year... only to find one of the few bright spots (on K/9, WHIP, ERA) was actually Frieri. So, then I took a look at his ESPN stat page:
HOLY crap... He's having a really good year.
His ERA since joining the Angels is still 0.00. He also has 53 SO in 31.1 innings this year. Oh, and he has seven saves.
I consider this reason number 5 billion for why I don't like Byrnes. What did we get for Frieri again? Someone who is probably a replacement level middle infielder (or a utility infielder)... Amarista could develop into something more, but this trade just doesn't look very good right now. Our bullpen is no longer the strength it once was (even a season ago), and we didn't get much for trading Frieri. Byrnes' five year plan is not even going to come to fruition since the new ownership group will probably not retain him. Therefore, I wish his reign of terror would be halted.
