"WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME!!!"
Movie Maker Thomas Tull who had partnered with Tony Gwynn in an attempt to purchase the Padres has dropped out after making a "respectable" offer that was rejected by John Moores.
"It doesn’t economically make sense," a source said Tuesday in explaining Tull's decision.
If Tull had offered any more money there wouldn't have been enough to improve the product on the field.
Gwynn was really excited about the prospect of Tull owning the Padres:
"The one thing that comes across when you talk to him is he wants to win. This guy is as competitive as they come."
I guess he wasn't that competitive, if he's going quit after the first bid's rejection.
So with Tull out that leaves us with four:
- Hedge fund billionaire Steven Cohen
- Chicago White Sox executive Dennis Gilbert
- Former Dodgers owner Peter O’Malley
- Houston developer David S. Wolff, a minority owner of the San Francisco Giants.
