Dad might have the day off but the kids still have to go to school. All four Friar affiliates are in action tonight; three are starting new series with the exception of San Antonio. The Missions look to rebound from an 11-6 loss to Corpus Christi while the Storm and TuPads will also be trying to get back into win mode. Fort Wayne, the only team of the batch to win yesterday, leads off the evening's linwup of games in search of the ever-elusive two game win streak.
- South Bend Silver Hawks @ Fort Wayne Tin Caps, 4:05pm: Second-year pro Cody Hebner takes his 5-2 record and 3.79 ERA to the hill in his 12th start of the season. Opposing hitters have had a .244 BA against him so far this year.
- High Desert Mavericks @ Lake Elsinore Storm, 7:05pm: Tonight is the Storm's annual "Nothing Night": there are no tickets, no parking fees, no announcements and no promotions. Sticking with the theme, they'll be starting Jerry Sullivan who has shown nothing in his four years since being drafted in the third round out of Oral Roberts.
- San Antonio Missions @ Corpus Christi Hooks, 7:05pm: Lefty Tom Layne gets the ball for San Antonio and will be breaking new ground if he keeps it in the park. In ten starts and two relief appearances with Reno, Tucson and San Antonio, Layne has an 8.47 ERA with nearly a walk for every strikeout. Opposing batters have hit .318 against him so basically he makes everyone better than Roberto Clemente.
- Tucson Padres @ Las Vegas 51s, 7:05pm: Colt Hynes will do his best to push the Li'l Pads over .333. He'll have his hands full as he's off to a crummy start of his own. But they don't play the games on paper and anything can happen, especially in the PCL.
Since the Pads didn't play today, you need to get your game thread fix somehow. See you in the comments!
