- Yasmani Grandal is being brought up to give Bud Black a few more options off the bench. "We don't know how long he'll be here [because] he needs to play." He's swinging a hot bat in the minors. He has a middle of the order type bat. He may get a start but that's up to Black. His bat is more advanced then his glove.
- Jeff Suppan was designated for assignment to make room for Grandal. Suppan was pretty beat up in his last few starts.
- The Padres haven't decided who will fill Jeff Suppan's spot in the rotation. Jason Marquis, Jorge Reyes, Kip Wells, Matt Palmer and few guys outside the organization are in the mix.
- It's hard to say if Andrew Cashner will be in the bullpen the rest of the year or if he'll get a chance to start.
